Breaking News Paul Brush Dismissed...

Not beyond the realms of possibility - I guess it depends on how deep Tilly's loyalty is to Brushy. That said, Tilly has a wife and kids to look after, and no doubt, a mortgage, so by walking away himself, what would he achieve? He is certainly no gimme to walk straight into another job right now - his reputation at the moment would almost certainly have been tarnished.

Does Ron want rid? Maybe - If he sacks Tilly, he must know the backlash that would cause amongst the fans, and probably, the playing staff. Again though, to counter that, Ron strikes me as a man that doesn't care too much what others think if he feels it's the right decision to be made.

Maybe, however, it's just that someone has to carry the can for our current plight. I'm not saying it has to be Brushy, i'm not saying it has to be Tilly, but can we really afford to carry on as we are without changing something? It is easy to put all of this on our financial situation - and that is no doubt a huge factor - but can our continued inability to defend properly really be put on a lack of money? No, of course it can't - some things are won and lost on the training ground, and that is one area in particular which we keep getting wrong - who is responsible for training?

Maybe I'm going to get shot down for this, but let's look at Bournemouth - They are in even worse financial state than us, and they are 2nd in League Two with a real chance of promotion this season. I suspect they did not feel sorry for themselves, and let it affect them, they used it as a positive, and something to galvanise them as a unit - why are we not doing that? I hold Ron responsible for a lot of what is going wrong with our club, and think the way it is being run is creating more questions than answers, but he is right in one thing he says - our current playing staff should be good enough to keep us up - and they should.

true about bournemouth, i hope we can get behind the squad, its looking grim but were not down yet!
our current plight is intensified by our successes over the last few years, we seemed to be really going places, and now all that success and hard work, (and luck) is unravelling before our eyes. making it even more of a bitter pill to swallow

the true reason why Paul was sacked thanks to football-rumours

"Paul Brush was sacked at Southend, as it was his idea to score the own goal in the recent game v Charlton. Paul has since been offered a coach's job at Notts County."

Just got in from work (and the customary couple of jars after).............

WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON?????????????

has ron released his pre-l'oreal statement yet???

PS. haven't read any of this thread yet, will do in a minute, just fancied a bit of a rant considering our current situation

UTB :headbang:

I think we've have been extremely patient with our management team. In virtually every other club, when the team performs as our's has, the Manager gets the sack. I'll never call for the management team to be sacked (Alvin Martin apart), but can usually see why when it happens.

In a lot of cases the assistant manager or coach gets the job, even if only on a temporary basis. This is presumably where it's the manager's tactics and decisions that are seen to be the cause of the problems and the chairman has faith enough to give the coach a chance to show he can do a better job.

I guess RM must believe it's Brushy's coaching thats at fault, rather than whatever it is that Tilly is responsible for. Either that or Tilly's head is next on the chopping block if things still don't improve.

And why not? I don't know about you guys, but I've not seen a lot of evidence that our players are being coached very well. We're inept at defending set pieces, our running off the ball has been non-existant, and our general tactics and organisation are laughable at times. Perhaps it is Brushy's fault; I guess time will tell. I was interested (not very happy though) to see O'Donovan running into channels, getting the ball played to feet, and generally posing a threat every time the Monkeyhangers attacked us on Saturday. I don't remember us using him like this once during his stay with us. Who's fault would that have been; O'Donovan's, the other players', or the coaching staff's.

Now it might turn out to be nothing to do with his coaching ability, and every thing to do with some incident or other. But I don't automatically see this as a disaster, and wouldn't even if Tilly was to follow PB out of the door.

I'm going to look on the bright side, and hope that whoever ends up coaching the players does a better job of it than has been apparent lately.

But you know its imposible to polish a pooh.

I was shocked when I read the news yesterday. Good luck to Brush and I hope he gets back on football soon.

My guess would be Dean Austin to come in to the end of the season.

Nothing solid but I heard a suggestion from someone with links to the club that Danny O'Shea could be joining the club in a coaching role.

Anyone got todays Echo yet for the big interview?

I wonder just how much Brushy will say, being mindful that Steve still has to try and motivate our team for the battle ahead.

Sadly Brushy says very little, only that he leaves with a heavy heart and that he respects Ron for telling him face to face. Clearly if Brush wants his money then he can't say too much. A sad day for The Shrimpers i think, with worse days to come. UTB

Ah just posted a new thread.

Thats bollocks then - so much for the Echo's 'Big Interview' - obviously Brush has been gagged, or knows he was in the wrong.

I think he has to keep his head down if he wants the money that's owed to him and wants to land himself a new job in the future. Creating trouble for the chairman who's just sacked you doesn't exactly help to endear yourself to potential employers!

He must be confident of getting whats owed - plus his payoff then. Wonder if Martin will sort him out from his personal funds, in return for Brush keeping out of the news...

Especially a spiteful One who bans the local paper for telling us what's going on.

This is a copy of an email i sent to talk sport today I would like to say thanks to Paul Brush for every thing he has done for my club since 2003.Sacked yesterday by our owner Ron Martin. Brushy's Record: after keeping us up in Div 2, when we looked certain to drop into the conference before he and Steve Tilson took over in 2003. Then 2 concecutive pomotions. beaten in playoff semi. Last season a few points off play offs.3 apperances at the Millenium stadium.(2 LDV Finals and a PlayOff Final) Then beating Man u, drawing at stamford bridge, and getting within mins of doing the same at Spurs. This season working with a squad of 14/15 pro's after all the best players were either sold or left , only to be replaced with loanees of which most are only 18 or 19 years old. Oh and the contracted players we were left with have not been paid. (PFA have just come in and paid them up to January) so we are under another transfer embargo. The star striker Lee Barnard was sold in jan, only 1 center half all season. It goes on and on. Please Mr.Parry, as the seeker of truth and justice p delve into this, and see if you can find any sence into the mind of our owner Ron Martin.
