First time I saw Southend on TV, BBC news.1956 v Man City. It is one of the matches to feature on our 'Iconic Roots Hall Matches' prints that we are getting together for the club and the East Stand box corridor

We scored both goals, Lol. Ray Smith with an O.G. on 33 minutes. Johnny McGuigan equalising on 69 minutes. The crowd was 43,454.
So Southend United did well to earn the replay.

Why those games from ones with an "age to them" ?I really don't have time to go through 138 pages of posts on here, but does anyone know of any really good crowd photos taken at Roots Hall, preferably with some decent age to them or of a particularly high profile match? Was quite hoping for a Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool one but not found anything from searching myself.

Better ones would be of real sparser crowds, not filled with hangers on.
