With all respect to paul benson he is not somebody i would like us to sign for a fee, perhaps if he was available then it may be worth a gamble but such an unproven striker at the moment i wouldn't throw money at him, i think they want something silly for him anyway.

Is anyone in the conference proven at a higher level??? No if they were they wouldnt still be in the conference, if we take anyone from that level its a gamble, so a gamble on the best the conference has to offer looks a good way to hedge our bets.

there are more proven strikers in the conference than Benson. Yes he is a decent player, but there are better players available for better deals. It makes no sense to sign Benson. Before this season he had played in the conference 2 years and last year scored 1 goal and although admittedly he missed 3 months of it. He has only been in the conference for two years and therefore is not experienced at all, all his other career goals were for a team only god has ever heard of. He's not that young either and even he admits this season was a surpirse to him. Fpr money there is no way i would advise his purchase for a club like southend.
