It definitely is Charlie Macdonald, I posted this last week. The only problem is that he has a number of other options. The good thing for us is that he has a young family (got married last year) and he is very settled in the area.
 
i don't see why we're not in with a good shout if our offer is competitive. he's relatively local, has a settled family (according to Southstandblue), and has the prospect of either a) playing with Eastwood, or b) getting a good shot at a regular first-team spot if Eastwood leaves.
 
macdonald looks decent from what i've read. excellent at holding up the ball as well as an excellent eye for a goal. i dunno how quick he is though but probably quicker than most of our squad!

According to soccerbase he's two inches shorter than Flahavan, and nearly a stone and a half lighter.

So he's likely to be the only player in league 1, apart from JCR, who is able perform a nutmeg that sees both himself and the ball pass through opposing players legs...! :minger:

Apologies if I've missed something, but why are we so sure we've got MacDonald? It's not up on the OS or the Beeb yet.
 
Tilly said we're waiting to hear back from a non league striker as to whether he will sign, hence this thread. Nobody is saying we've got him, just some have worked out correctly that it's MacDonald.
 
Knowing our success in the transfer market I wouldnt be surprised if we miss out on him along with many others this summer.
 
Didnt tilly have benson 2 years ago but wasnt prepared 2 offer him a contract.

From what i hear the Gills have tabled a decent offer for Paul Benson, if they can afford him why cant we?????
 
With all respect to paul benson he is not somebody i would like us to sign for a fee, perhaps if he was available then it may be worth a gamble but such an unproven striker at the moment i wouldn't throw money at him, i think they want something silly for him anyway.
