There's such a shortage of decent potential "big business" sponsors in Southend, I'm sorry to see I&G go but not really surprised, although I honestly DID expect them to stay. Wonder if they're going to pop up on someone else's shirts?

Well lets hope we get some big time charlie take over the sponsorship. We are going up this season, starting work on FF and we have media savvy PB. All in all a good prospect for sponsors.

I have seen the new sponsors logo.....

as having no sponsor the kits will be delayed as a result? I agree London Southend Airport would look great

Britvic, MuddyFox, Regus & Dixons Group (Currys/PC World) all have their origins in the Essex area, with Dixons being born on Southend High Street..

The interesting thing is as follows: Are I & Go pulling out for financial reasons or is it disillusionment with the club and Ron Martin?

I doubt it. They have even withdrawn sponsorship from a local kids football club. So obviously Mapfre are really tightening the purse strings.

If we don't get a sponsor we should be like Barcelona, do the altruistic thing, and advertise a charity. We could run our shirts down to the local T-Shirt printing firm and get them to put UNICEF on our shirts in standard lettering (just like those sweatshirts that kebab shops get made up, nothing fancy). This would be cheap and still look classy I reckon.

How about something a bit more edgy.................'SHRIMPER ZONE.COM'. This would give all of us the opportunity to put our money where our collective mouths are. I shall probably now get slaughtered for posting this:smile:

This is a great idea. I'd be much more likely to buy merchandise with a charity name rather than voluntarily advertise some naff company.

Having said that, I bloody love Rossi's. My only fear is that the club would dust off the old custard splat shirts in the guise of a splash of lemon sorbet.

...or Hi-Tec ? Dixons...that's a good choice......Dixons was the name of a family department store where WHSmith's is now. Charles Kalms and Michael Mindel from London opened a camera shop/studio down the bottom end of the High Street. They took the name from the Department store at the top end of the High Street as it was 6 letters long which is all they could fit over the door. Personally I would love Dixons....it's the D in GPD.
