From what I read Togwell is a reliable and dependable player. I was under the impression he was a little injury prone.

94 appearances in the last two seasons doesn't sound too bad to me.

Only two yellow cards in his last 60 League matches; doesn't he tackle or something ??

Yes that is a good appearance record. Just thought in the back of my mind he was someone i read consistently about being out injured in regular stages. probably someone else. But as I say interesting should this move pull-off what this means for Timlin's future.

Theoretically a midfield three of laird timlin and togwell not too shabby. Now need many more players around them

If this signing materialises it'll be interesting to see how this pans out with Timlin in mind as he is a kind of sinilar player. Eventual competition for Timlin or replacement? Interesting the text message that was sent to shrimperjon via A friend of Neil Harris where it was claimed Neil felt all out of contract are unlikely to stay here. With Timlin one of those it makes this an interesting saga and you would think Timlin owes the Club for standing by him. Like Hall stayed loyal for a year.

I wouldn't call Timlin a defensive midfielder though

As I posted in the other thread the 20 player thing is not correct. You can sign enough for a match day squad, which at best is 18.

We have been told 9 by both CP and PB- I tend to go with that. In any case its clear we can at least sign a few as disappointing as that will be to many

Oh he was seen in a letting agent, must be deal done then. Spose he was spotted in the Fish House afterwards, then borrowing some books from Southend Library before having a game of crazy golf on the seafront?

Just scoured a Chesterfield Forum and their supporters say Togwell is a high earner. So IF, IF its true we have an interest in him then no sooner do we depart with a handsome wage earner we MIGHT be replacing that wage with a similar one.

Less of an issue if we get something in return for the wage.

Ok we receive a transfer fee for Cresswell with Togwell thrown in. if that happens we stilll have to pay Togwell his wages which are reportedly not low. Personally if we were going to pay out another handsome wage I'd have gone For Bailey if we had the choice of him or Togwell available to us through ability alone.

Let's be clear, Bailey was never an option. Togwell sounds a decent player though, if rumours are true.

@CJPhillips1982
Still no truth in Chesterfield having bid for Ryan Cresswell @SUFCRootsHall

And try and Get as much as we can for Cresswell in a straight cash swoop. Then we can say we've cashed in with a little more money as opposed to a little less dough with a player thrown in. Togwell may be good if hes reasonable in his demands but if not we may need to hunt for a cheaper option.

AS i have continously stated with words such as Mights, Ifs and maybes. Forgot to add IF cresswell still wants out. IF not then his contract prefarebly will need to be extended fot at least a further year for if he stays he'll go for nothing this time next year. Too good a player to see leave for zilch.

The difference in salary between Bailey and Togwell would be huge. Reckon Bailey's wages could be at least treble Togwell's.

Probably right but I'm basing it on the idea if both players were prepared to come here on what WE would pay them. I don't doubt Bailey would command more of the two but repoertdely Togwell isn't cheap either despite being lower than Bailey's demands.
