New injury setback for Southend United's long term crock Barry Corr

Got to the end of this thread before I went back to read the offending copy in the Echo. I can't believe that this has taken up 59 messages (60 when you add in this post). The headline is slightly alarmist, but Phillips copy absolutely accurate. I can find nothing which even hints at a long term problem or a re occurance of BC's knee injury. PS is quoted as saying it will take BC 5 days to recover and the only question is will he go to Madrid (which he isn't).

Other than the headline, I can't see what big Barry's gripe is..

ahahahaha

Jesus. That is the exact point. It's a non-story about an unrelated minor injury which will put him back a couple of days and yet it's plastered on the back page of the Echo with a headline which suggests that he's about to be shot and turned into glue.

Thanks for the exasperated response. I understood the point you and others were making several times in this thread. I just don't agree with it. The dispute between Corr and Phillips appears to be over the headline that apparently Phillips is not responsible for, rather than the copy that he is, and which is accurate. How the Echo treat his copy is not likely to be within Phillips remit and in any case your "plastered over the back page of the Echo", is in fact just a few paragraphs.

I appreciate BC, given his wretched bad luck with the knee injury, is likely to be very sensitive to any speculation about his fitness. That's not a reason for Phillips to withold reporting BC's groyne strain and in my view, though clearly not yours Beefy, he is only doing his job as a reporter. If the Echo go over the top with story or run it with a sensationalist headline then complaint lies with the Echo's editorial judgement, not the poor sap who wrote the piece.

It's a groin strain - not groyne.

A groyne is a barrier used in coastal areas to reduce the effect of erosion. Those wooden barriers all along the seafront are not just there to give molluscs something to cling onto!

God (not that I believe there is one) give me strength .............

Did Corr strain his groin by straining to move a groyne? or something.

BBBC is actually the leading cause of coastal erosion. Fortunately the town has relied on replenishing the sand by asking Mohsni to do heading practice with boulders.

And that is why the only person to blame Phillips was ESB, who then apologised when he found out that Phillips has no say at all over the headlines.

No one is getting at Chris. No one is saying that he shouldn't have run the story. It's just that a few of us are seeing why Barry Corr would be ****ed off at the Echo.
