New injury setback for Southend United's long term crock Barry Corr

This is actually quite childish on both sides now, fair enough he doesn't right the headlines and I don't think he did anything wrong. The moaning on twitter about people and people on here moaning about him is ridiculous.

BBBC started it!!!! LOL

I guess he is trying to find out who you are so that he can put the record straight again, as clearly some dont seem to understand his points.

I don't really think he's done anything wrong. I agree that the headline is harsh and have no idea if he wrote it/allowed it but he says that he didn't and so that's fine with me. It seems my crime is using the #barnabluegetsitwrongagain hashtag joke and he didn't get that. oh well. Don't get why he wants to drag this on to twitter, I'm pretty sure he's posted on here before.

What you havnt answered is why is it an abuse of trust?? BC is injured fact! Isnt this all the paper is doing, reporting the fact? Is Jordan Robertson upset with CP becasue he said that he was hobbling around the training ground on crutches? BC should be grateful that he even has a contract after the past season, not be worrying about a headline that he doesnt like the sound of, surely. As i said i am a massive BC fan and truely hope he can recover to the form of two seasons ago, so im not having a go at him, but the whole thing seems to have been blown out proportion.

But given last season, and how some people have pretty much written off his career, you can't really blame him for being a bit sensitive around this.

FWIW, I don't think anyone has done anything wrong here. CP wrote an article about an injury, and BCCC missing out on a trip to Spain, and the headline writer has done his job of trying to sell papers.

Google returns 21 million results for the search 'FOOTBALLER CROCK'
If the definition of crock is 'broken down' then isn't this phraze used all the time on footballers ?

added to the above, I can't see one line of the report that is inaccurate, it is also balanced as Sturrock states its not the end of the world and that he has been doing great.

I think people get upset far too easy, If BBBC wants to get upset theren he should come on here and read how often BBBC 'crocked' comes up, or why we should not have resigned him , and 'he will never play for us again '.

Anyway- it doesn't sound bad and I wish him the best of luck in his recovery and look forward to cheering him on next season

ps- I wish we had more to talk about

I have sorted this anyway

I have offered them a boxing match via twitter also I have told chris to check his editor in to the smackdown hotel

DO NOT WORRY THE TRUEBLUE IS DEALING WITH THIS!

No he doesn't, but as a reporter he'll have a significant say in the tone of the piece. He would've seen the page before it was signed off (or signed it off himself, I've no idea how senior he is at the echo) and could've recommended an adjustment if he thought the terminlogy to be too harsh or damning. Corr doesn't seem to have been riled by just the piece though, his comments on Twitter came across that Corr/the club had been accomodating to the paper and had then had this piece produced which is misleading/sensationalist. It's an abuse of trust and, given the fact that it wasn't so long ago that Sturrock prohibited players from talking to the press, not a particularly wise one.

Wow...seriously. The things people get on their high horse about never fails to amaze me. A player injured for over a year is injured again and gets labelled a crock...the journalist who reported this FACT is then attacked for a headline he didn't right.

Slow news day or what.

In respect to ESB, Corr and Phillips have enjoyed a lot of banter prior to this on Tiwtter, re: match ratings Phillips has given BBBC, and vice versa in charity games, BBBC has given Philiips low marks in jest, so your assumption that Corr is riled by a long term accomodation of the Echo are short of the mark in my opinion, given the good relationship they've previously and publicy shared.

Attack? I was only passing my own judgement on what I thought was a misleading headline before Phillips obviously got offended and started calling me out on Twitter (which was a bit silly). I incorrectly assumed that Phillips would've had a say in it (from my own personal experience, I would've thought Phillips to have some say in the headline), before apologising for my assumption as to how senior he is at the Echo.

As for the "relationship" between Corr and Phillips, I'm only going on Corr's comments last night. It obviously offended Corr as he felt the need to speak up about it and referenced how he's given the paper interviews in the past.

Whats the difference between CP calling you out on twitter and you having a dig at him. This whole thing has gone madly out of control.

FACT BC is injured again, although minor. Some people including BC having taken offence to the way its reported/headlined. Some show support for BC, many for CP. End of.

A crock is an insulting term used to describe knackered old broken down animals. I don't understand how people aren't getting the idea that some people don't like to see themselves insulted, especially not on the back page of the local newspaper.

Its only a ****ing groyne strain nothing to worry about

Never mind the argument over some crockery, I'm more worried that Bazza has a groyne injury. Most alarming - why was he on the beach near a groyne anyway?

Come on Bazza, put away your thong swimming trunks and get back to training properly!

This is between Barry and Chris Phillips but TBH why Barry started tweeting about it is beyond me. If he is a bit touchy about his injury issues then getting everyone talking about it on twitter and this forum doesn't sound very bright.
As for the Echo, looks like they have lost another interviewee.

Got to the end of this thread before I went back to read the offending copy in the Echo. I can't believe that this has taken up 59 messages (60 when you add in this post). The headline is slightly alarmist, but Phillips copy absolutely accurate. I can find nothing which even hints at a long term problem or a re occurance of BC's knee injury. PS is quoted as saying it will take BC 5 days to recover and the only question is will he go to Madrid (which he isn't).

Other than the headline, I can't see what big Barry's gripe is. If it's true that CP and BC were buddies before this spat about nothing then I suggest they kiss and make up pronto.
