Breaking News New COSU Member & Investor - Shivaas Gulati

There continues to be lots of talk about January but as @BoyWonder2 has confirmed we can sign any players now. The only benefit I can see of January is that if we sign a player from say league 2 they may only let them go when they can replace them or similarly as league clubs sign players it may make existing squad members surplus to requirements. Am I missing anything else?
Whilst we could try and buy now business is generally slow outside of loans. Once we get past the festival period teams:

1) have a better understanding of where they really are this season. Are they actually in the automatic promotion picture? Are crowds/sponsorship/cup performance below was budgeted for? You have more sellers by January than in October/November.

2) cup runs tend to be over so teams aren’t holding onto players for the hope of a money spinning cup tie or fear that any replacement will be cup tied

3) the busy festive period is over so clubs not holding onto squad players to cope with lots of games in a short space of time.

4) contracts will be running out and minds start to turn to next season. If someone is offering you £25k for a player who is off in May it is that little more attractive end of January than start of November.

5) that player who got off to a strong start and scored lots of goals early on you’ve had a chance to watch several times since and gauge whether it was a flash in the pan or if their game has actually gone up another level. Equally players who got off to a slow start at a new club - did they just need a bit of time or has their new club decided that they’re not for them after all?

6) Waiting until January lets you properly test the full market so you don’t sell your starlet below market value. Maybe your price tag was a bit too optimistic and when there’s no other offers in January you’re willing to accept what you turned down in October.

There is a bit of talk about the talent pool from non league refilling a bit. I guess that happens gradually though and if anything January will be harder given league clubs may also have an interest

Can’t forget until we are a proper league club again.
I'm not saying forget... I'm just saying don't mention it on here. I will always remember but trust me, I've moved on and spent almost exactly 0% of my day thinking about either him or what he did.

The only time he comes to mind is when his name springs up on here in a thread.

We don't need to mention him at all or give him any headspace.

But of course we will always remember.

Potentially very good news. But as @Yorkshire Blue says, we'll have to wait and see. I'd far rather my club ended up being a solid League One side than a businessman's executive toy, cast to one side once he's bored with it.

Certainly, talk of matching Championship wages and £0.5m on a striker (said with tongue in cheek, I'm sure), would be wide of the mark. COSU has made it clear that sustainability is the goal, and rightly so. Surely, we're all heartily sick of boom and bust at SUFC?
Can we have just one more Boom please!

And if you mention him 3 times , he might 'appear' ........
