His comeback goal after beating testicular cancer

His style is nothing like Corr or Sturrock.

In fact, he could be the perfect partner for Corr or Sturrock.

Really? I thought he linked play and a good target. Can't see him on the shoulder of last defender and beating them for pace.
Only seen him play at Roots Hall for millwall a few times so i could be missing something.

Seems a bit short for a target man. But both Sturrock and Corr look to knock the ball to someone rather than into space. A target man who knocks it on into space needs the sort of player you refer to, i.e. who plays on the shoulder of the defender. However, I think Corr and Sturrock would both team well with a anticipative striker who can receive the ball and who knows where the goal is, a description that pretty much suits Harris.

Yeah your maybe right i've not seen enough of Harris to judge, I was just under the impression that Sturock has been after a pacey forward to link up with Corr and Blair. I can't Knock what Harris has achieved with Millwall and know he's a fans favorite there.

Why were we not linked with Darren Bent, instead we're linked with yet another over the hill footballer, Goater, Ricketts, Freedman... Tinpot **** club.

Martin out.

When we were linked with him three years ago I said he was past it. I was wrong. Sign him up.

sod the legs

I played against him when he was a kid..run rings around me. A good acquisition. Even if he plays for a season or two....he can teach the kids how to be a pro footballer... a class act,he has been there...got the knock backs..an perservered..Good luck Neil.go for it!!

It's possible Millwall may pay up his contract as a reward for his many years there. If that's the case he may be willing to accept a much lower wage here. I'm sure he'd be comfortable at this level, I'd be a bit concerned over his fitness.

Hmm ... maybe not as much as he would be about yours! :hilarious:

Sorry mate, sat up nicely - had to put it away. I'd be delighted if we signed Eastwood's finest. I'm sure he could do a good job at this level for the rest of this season and maybe next.

Nowt wrong with mine mate I can still sink a few pints and put away a good ringstinger as necessary.

Started saturday and with Morrisson possibly on his way as well as doing his badges at Millwall I just can't see us signing him and that doesn't even take into account the wages issue

Spoke to a fella I work with who is a regular at the Den. Although he hasn't heard any rumours, he reckons there could be some truth in it as Millwall have recently signed Theo Robinson and Josh McQoid from Bournemouth. So even if Morrison left, which he's quite confident won't happen; they're still a striker up, and the consenus is he's playing days at Millwall are pretty much numbered (barring an injury crisis!).

Harris lives fairly locally, and he's exactly what we need, so I wouldn't bet against us making an approach. It'd certainly be easier for him, but Harris is Millwall...

Blimey. As long as his wages weren't a problem, he'd be a brilliant signing; and I agree with fbm - he'd be a perfect foil for Corr, in particular (sorry Blair). At L2 level, he's got at least a couple of years left in those legs.

I'll believe it when I see it, though - seems a bit too "easy" / "obvious" a rumour (cf. Lockwood rumours ad nauseam) at the mo...

Whilst Harris maybe getting a bit long in the tooth, certainly for Championship football. I think he still has plenty in the tank to do a job in League Two and dare I say it League One as well.

Ok, so he has little in the pace department. But he more than makes up for that in the intelligence department. Players like Neil don't need pace to beat their man, they use their experience and tactical nouse. The boy knows where the net is as well. Give him the service and 9 times out of 10 he will stick it away. That is what we lack. Taking nothing away from Corr who has done very well this season. Harris also has superb vision and awareness and he will bring others into play a lot more. But Corr and Sturrock are both injury prone, so we do need more bodies in, who better than Harris? Seriously at League Two level?

Harris is similar to "HRH The Goat" in many ways. Not a lot of pace, but everything else he can bring to the team, on and off the pitch would more than make up for that.

I would very much welcome him to the Hall and it will be nice to see him in a Southend shirt at last. You know he will pull it on with immense pride as well.

Would also fit in well with Luggy's thoughts about building "two teams", with one deployed at home and one away. Blair very much fits the bill of a striker who flourishes away from home, given his ability to hold the ball up, whereas Harris is a forward who acts more on instinct to score goals, and would make a lot of defences at this level uneasy given his experience and presence.

Yes, Luggy also said he want's players that have "been there done that and got the t-shirt"

Harris fit's that bill, many times over.

I think as you touched on there ESB. Just the mention of Harris in our team, would be enough to make the opposition manager think hard about his tactics and also strike a little bit of fear into opposition players.

Harris in League Two, would be deadly in my opinion.

I wonder if this little extract from his Wiki page could tell a story:

"On 28 January 2010, Harris prolonged his contract with Millwall until 2012"

So on Jan 28th this year he has exactly 1 year left. I wonder if that will be paid up by 'Wall and allow Neil to move, just before the window closes.

That makes it sound as though it was a chore, doesn't it! You prolong agony... contracts are normally extended.

Another bonus to this 'potential' signing is what a player like harry Crawford could learn from having Harris around, if Harris could help Crawford with say positioning & gambling on the right balls, Crawford would so much the better player for it.

Sawyer and Harris in one week, are we really that lucky?
