National League / PL2 Cup - Shrimpers turn down chance to participate

On a similar subject I was invited to the club for a meeting with
Shaun Harvey who was the Chief Executive of the English Football League when Steve Kavanagh was in charge.
Harvey was explaining about Premier teams under 21 teams entering (I think) the lower league cup and the Prem clubs would put £1 million into the prize money.
I told him we were selling out for the paltry sum of £50,000 from each Prem club.
He wasn't impressed but couldn't argue.

So good luck to everyone now who won't be bought.

We are playing Wealdstone at a good time of the season; before their pitch gets into a boggy morass. They are chancing another fixture pile up and consequent problems if there is a very wet Autumn and Spring.
Halifax and Altrincham could have pitch problems too maybe?

Shaun Harvey, that takes me back. He chaired a meeting with us in early 2018 where it quickly became evident that we knew the EFL rules better than he did. We gave him a suggested "case review" model that set out a way that the EFL could use failures like ours as a diagnostic tool for the future. He promised to get back to us about it.

I'm beginning to think he isn't going to bother.

It’s just like the old Football League Trophy where they added u21 prem teams. They could have least called it the Papa Johns Vase!

So 2,301 attendance in total across 8 games. Whereas almost all of those clubs would have expected to get that crowd by themselves for a juicy FA Cup replay, which has now been scrapped. Puts it into perspective, doesn't it?

Glad we didnt enter if we had i would have hope they played it at Jones Memorial ground witha 10-00am kickoff us fielding a local school team .the PL want this competition then for their u21s so let them be benevolent and give each NL club that gets into it 1million pounds its nothing to them when they spending hundreds of millions on transfers for a player to just warm a bench. Make it worth while for a NL club to get into it , they already stealing our best young talent for f**k all.
