National League / PL2 Cup - Shrimpers turn down chance to participate

Especially as it was used by the Premier League to buy the support and compliance of the National League Board in the argument around the scrapping of FA Cup replays.

Alllll just a big power play.
Was going to say this is clearly a result of National League and Premier League directors kissing each others ***es and not caring about the clubs or the fans, or the integrity of the NL and FA Cup.

Confirmation on the BBC that we opted out (along with Barnet, Eastleigh and Solihull). I wonder if the other clubs knew that was an option or if we were the only 4 brave enough to put our feet down?

Are any of the chairmen of clubs that opted out involved the the National League board etc.? Doubt it.

So is this due to our small playing squad? All the gate receipts go to the national league team so missing out on revenue .. 16 teams in our league seem to like the idea …
It will cost us more to put the match on than we would receive in gate receipts. I doubt many would be interested in seeing this pointless competition, organised for PL clubs' benefit.

I think opting not to take part is a very good decision. The 16 clubs who do will be at a competitive disadvantage overall, and for the life of me I can't understand why the NL thinks partial involvement of teams is a good or defensible idea. And then there is their stance on FA Cup replays - which DO attract crowds and revenue.

Another short-sighted, poorly conceived initiative and shame on the NL for taking part in it.

I gather the National League threw a proper strop when we refused to take part. Imagine your biggest club not partaking in this 'flagship' competition. Farcical.
Rather throw the toys out of the pram, perhaps a time to reflect and realise that the smaller clubs donot benefit and just adds more games to a hectic season, a couple of cancelled games in winter and the schedule gets chaotic if not impossible
If they wanted to help clubs, fund a reserve league to help clubs bring through youngsters and let the elite boys sort out their requirements
Shame more clubs didn’t take the same stance as a few

If, big IF we could have played the home games with kick off at 1pm on a Wednesday, had the bars open in the East, not had to use more than 7 of the last match day squad (the bench!), charged a fiver to get in maybe it could have been a reasonable reserve/fringe players run out; and a chance for local pensioners and shift workers to watch a reserve game?
I don't think the FA would have allowed that.

Tbh this would of been perfect along with a Pizza Man pizza.

This is neither the time nor the place to run through the CV of Dale Vince, except to say I find him abhorrent at every level.
Interesting.
I too have Vince's CV in front of me. So, am assuming you might be referring to his protracted marriage settlement?
Otherwise, he comes across as breath of fresh air in the football world. As for 'naff club' the UN for one would disagree with you.
Each to his own, I guess...

Very benevolent of you.
