Fellows, if it helps a difficult position, I am offering myself to take GB's ban for life instead of him. (Crocko - no typo - is banned from commenting!)
Some might even offer a bond (no 007 jokes!) of sorts as a type scenario for him to use the board once again.
I know Easter is the time to be reborn but I feel I should offer at this precarious time to be the scarificial lamb.
I have never met the chap nor converse an awful lot so no clique should anyone mention this!

I have no idea on why he's been banned, but maybe he needs to find a life. When I got banned, I actually found other things to do with my life...yea, thee are other things out there..SZ board, is NOT that important.
IF he really wants to post, then he can always use a slightly differnt name ie Greysblueii, or greys-blue or greysbluejunior(oops)
lets be a real democratic board and put it to the vote..lets have a poll!!?
ps, why would a 50something year old man who obviously has opinions and is a proud man, use his son to fight his battle and send 'secret messages' to other posters? come on, grow up.

another idea...can he be re-accepted, but only on a limited area, ie banned from the pub, but allowed access to other areas?

It is a bit odd that a 50 year old man would be using his son to send messages, i can not get my head around that. If I was banned for life i would deltete the SZ Bookmark and move on with my life.
I do tend to agree about a poll as we are a democratic society on this baord....of course it should a secret poll to avoid any mud slinging after the event.
Or here is another option.......respect the owners/Mods decision?? After all they run the Zone and do a pretty bloody good job at doing so.

As for the GB situation. I've banned plenty on my site (www.thefootballforum.net if you ever fancy bashing some Orient fans), they all deservered it. As the Admin of it I am not answerable to my posters and if they don't like it, they can leave. In my experience very few do.

On behalf of the Board's owners.
Although there is no onus on us to comment on individual bans, we have decided to in this instance as a mistake was made some time ago and this has led to some confusion.
To clarify the position here, GB's ban was imposed after he stormed off the board with an "I shall never return" strop after a period of time when the actions of the owners were becoming more and more about managing antagonism caused by, surrounding or otherwise just involving GraysBlue than about just running (and enjoying!) the SZ website. It was a situation that could not continue for much longer.
In the context of so many of the threads/posts made by the poster in question descending into grief which we had to spend time dealing with and his ignoring of a very specific public warning which led to a month's ban (reduced to and served as one week), we gladly accepted GB's subsequent decision to leave on his own accord and we terminated his account. The mistake was made at the time of closing down the account when it was closed only for a month when, given GB's stated intention and in context of the way the Pub section was heading, the intention was to close the account permanently. This is something we rectified lately when we realised we hadn't done this. Given GB's publicly stated intention to leave the board, the recent correction did not appear to us to be an issue.
For the record, very few people actually get banned on here and banning anyone from the Zone is always a last resort, however even while it is rare to ban someone from the site, it remains our prerogative. Our goal is to retain SZ's position as the leading independent Southend United website/forum where people can discuss issues in an atmosphere which is good-intentioned, inclusive, friendly and welcoming. Where, in the collective opinion of the site's owners, any one Zoner threatens to derail that, we retain the right to deny the Zoner access to the site.
If, as it now seems, GraysBlue wants to come back to the Zone, we will consider re-admitting him although, in our opinion, the Zone has been less fractious without him here. As suggested by Rusty Shackleford above however, if he is re-admitted, there will be conditions attached to his behaviour which will see him leave the board for good if he chooses not to abide by them.
A point well made by Rusty Shackleford is that so much also depends on the behaviour of ALL posters. If GB agrees to the conditions we apply for his return, then it will be important for other posters to play their part in bringing about the good-intentioned, inclusive, friendly and welcoming board we're trying to create. To that end, we will be speaking to GB but also asking the rest of the board for their support in what we're trying to achieve.
