My Dutch southend united flag

PM Matt the Shrimp, he co-ordinated the sponsorship of a player, this year it was Mark Gower, we all split the cost. There's usually places at the sponsors dinner too if you ever care to go (and win the ballot)!

and I didn't get my money, I'd be careful :hilarious: :p

Is it expensive to sponsor a player?
Depends on who you sponser - Kevin Maher spends more on haircare products than Adam Barrett for example, but the shirt you get at the end of the season is virtually as new if you sponser Che Wilson

Oddly enough, my parents used to live in Scheveningen - it's a lovely part of the world, which I'm very familiar with. Rich - it's called the Kurhuis... literally the "cure house", where people would go to the seaside to take in the refreshing sea air.

This is how we know that Scheveningen is posher than Southend. They have a Kurhuis, whilst we only have a Kursaal... a room, rather than a house.

;)

Ado - great to have you on board. Come and see us in the Spread Eagle pub when you're over next season, and I'll buy you a pint!

:D

Matt

Actually there is a Kursaal in the Kurhaus too, though this does seem to be some sort of function suite.........and why can't you buy me a beer in The Spread too??? On second thoughts you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming away from my cider in the Far Post............

Well ADO and Einstein, there are more Shrimpers in Den Haag than you ever imagined!! Two seasos are currently squatting in a seaside pad at Seinpostduin Scheveningen, thanks to work sending me out here in late November.

Blimey - definitely more than I ever imagined. There was me priding my name on being the only Den Haag Shrimper :hilarious:

Only a short term contract for you then... Guessing it must be either Shell or ITC?! Thats the only reason there are so many expats here!!

Should have a Shrimpers meet up in the good old English pub The Fiddler! Beats the Spread every day of the week

Blimey, they've got about your Mum & Dad haven't they?
I'd love to go back & probably will for a family holiday sometime in the next 5-10 years.

Cor, I don't know, I give you another lead for the SUFC Exiles from faraway shores and you don't follow it up. If this was an episode of The Apprentice you'd be straight in the boardroom :p

Look like ADO stuffer Hat-Trick of relegation as Southend, ADO Den Haag & FC Eindhoven all go down in same season! maybe a Hat-Trick of promotion on card next season!

Ado when I was at the Leeds League away game last year, some Dutch Blues fans were in the pub, took my photo because I was wearing a Southend shirt. Was it you? or your group?

No Dad,

That was a party from "Readers Husbands" - You are now on the top shelf of some seedy Amsterdam sex shops I expect.

If I told you I'd have to kill you!!! Yes, The Fiddler sounds good, though I think they've stopped their home brew??....in fact I'll be there on saturday afternoon around five - providing I survive a footy tournament in Heerlen tomorrow.......and as I'm circa Billy Best - but play like Garry Moore - that'll be no mean feat!

Hey guys! My name is Kay and I live in The Hague. My fav teams in NL are Ado Den Haag and Fc Eindhoven.

I decided to create a flag to educate the dutch football goers to Southend united!

People are now getting interested in southend!

Ah .... FC Eindhoven ?

Nostalgia alert !

Saw Southend play at the Jan Louwers Stadion in a pre-season friendly in, I think, 1973. Can't remember the score but I recall it was a "competitive" match and there was a sending off (in those days you had to work hard at getting sent off). Small ground, quite quaint, set amongst woodlands and difficult to find.

Yes that was me! Photos were sadly not able to be put on the website :(

Somes dutchies uit rosendaal want to go to Southend next year too and some of my Fc Eindhoven friends! We will certainly visit, then we can plan a meet up?

Have people in the fiddlers stopped the brew? I wouldnt be surprised as everytime I drank it it made me ill!

Just for the record to, Ive had a bad season! Southend, Ado Den Haag relegated! Fc Eindhoven finished second from bottom but cannot relegate as there is only two professional leagues in the Netherlands! So no one can call me a glory hunter :thump:

I never go to Scheveningen either for the simple reason... to many germans and it costs me the extra zone (which I am too tight to pay)! I usually go to kijkduin to be patriotic to Southend :D

About £400 if I recall correctly.

SZ.com sponsored Simon Franbcis last year, with people buying 'shares' at £5 a time to be part of it.

We shall certainly do so again this season, so keep an eye out come July!

And Ajax missed out on the top spot by 1 GD scored.
