Pop Indie is definitely a genre that's starting to hack me off.

For those of you who used to go, or indeed still do, the Toothbrush used to be a good club, pretty much underground tunes and unknown bands played most of the evening. Recently, it seems to have turned into some kind of reject Talk evening, and after 11pm you hear nothing but Kaiser Chiefs, Jamie T and The Killers (another band who, quite frankly, aren't fit to even dry my knackers after having a shower).

I love my Indie, but these new bands just take the p**s IMHO.

Not true! Listen to Gram Parsons, Johnny Cash, or more modern alt-country The Jayhawks or Lambchop!

Akon - an utter bell end.

Not just for his music, but the fact he likes to remind us that he was once in prison at every available opportunity. Almost every one of his videos seems to be set in a prison, he releases stuff called "Locked Up" and "Konvicted", even his name suggests he was once a-con. Plus his tendency to sample chipmunks overdosed on helium on the vast majority of his "songs".

His real name is, wait for it, Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam.

Mental.

There's some great music around at the moment, it's just a shame talentless ponces like Akon get all the airplay.

I think I want to kill him now.....

I'll also add to that any loud music you hear 'pumping' out of somone's (usually a chav's) car.
