mr tilly

We got balls into the box and caused them problems.

erm sorry, in my opinion we was very static up front. didnt make space. and rarely caused them any problems atall

the goal was a individual one, and everytime we attaked we ended up going backwards

I actually think Tilly has given one of his more honest post-match interviews... the comment used above is taken out of context. Tilly acknowledges we weren't good enough when the game was there for the taking.

To coin an old cliche, 'actions speak louder than words'. Not once this season have I seen anything to indicate that remedial work has been carried out on the training ground with our defending at set-pieces, and well, our defending full stop.

I love Tilly, but honesty or not, people who do not learn from the same mistakes week in, week out become very tiresome.

Millwall were below average in what is a decidedly poor division (perhaps with the exception of Doncaster and Swansea) and we should have taken them to the proverbial cleaners this evening...poor poor display of naive tactics.

why do people love tilly. yes we have had a couple of good seasons, but his tactics are poor and he is naive. he clearly can not motivate the team and who knows what he says at half time. we have not learnt from our mistakes last season and our defending is worse, conceding more goals than in the championship. time to go i think, we seem to take one step forward and two back time and time again.

I hate getting dragged into this but you've asked why people love Tilson, and then answered it for yourself. The rest of your post is simply a contradiction.

Why do people love Tilly?
Because he took over a team heading for the Conference, and took them to the Championship in under 3 seasons. If that weren't enough, perhaps you might look to the two trips we made to Cardiff as (minor) Cup finalists. Then again, one might consider the 1-0 victory over the Premier League champions which put this club on the map. Perhaps his poor tactics, naivity and lack of motivational skills briefly let him down during this period. What a ridiculous question!

Who knows what he says at half time?
Exactly. Who knows?

We have not learnt from our mistakes last season and our defending is worse, conceding more goals than in the championship.
Clearly we have some significant problems at the moment, particularly at the back. All is not rosey in the garden, and the fans are becoming restless.

Time to go you think
Tilson, in my opinion, has done more than enough in the past to justify time and support to put things right. He's made some 'ricketts' in the transfer market, but then so have Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger. He has also pulled off some quite inspired signings with his limited budget - see the initial impact of Luke Guttridge, see Nicky Bailey, see Sean Goater, see Spencer Prior, see Freddy Eastwood, see Alan McCormack...

One step forwards, two steps back?
To me, since Tilson came onboard, we have move two leagues forward and fallen one league back. Despite a ****e performance last night, we still sit just a short distance from the play-offs with a game in hand. Hardly one step forward and two back, is it?

Things aren't entirely great at the moment on the playing field, but jeez these post-match over-reactions are so boring!

If you really need that question answered it's because Tilly and Brush have brought the success and stability that this club has been crying out for for decades. It's because he has unearthed and brought fantastic talent to the club: Goater, Eastwood and now Bailey to name a few.

He has made mistakes, and will continue to make mistakes as Tilly is undoubtedly learning as a manager. The thing is he needs and deserves the support and time to become the finished article and I sure as hell hope our fans have the sense to give it to him.

The levels of expectation are unnaturally high - we have only been promoted to the second tier twice in the club's entire history. The statistics show that teams relegated from the Championship struggle to go straight back up. To that end we are performing pretty well this season.

I was as ****ed off as anyone last night, for me it was as depressing performance as I've seen this year. But we all need to look at the bigger picture and continue to support this management team.

I salute you sir - inspired piece and deserving of some green!

Agreed top post . I can only assume those who moan and gnash wildly could be:
1) Under 25 (you wouldnt remember the real bad days )
2) have the attention span of a meerkat on speed
3) All the tactical awarness of roadkill .

Our biggest issues with building a squad has always been and will always be finaces , and not being an attractive prostect for some agents.. err i mean players.

Tilly and Brush cuaght the football world on the hope few years back plucking a few gems that others missed . No one would denie the energy and tiem and propably love they have place into the club. What we need now is paitence and time . You cant bear to wait ? Well maybe footballs not for you .

I think you might want to go back and look over the past seasons and judge how a man who didnt learn from mistakes and as naive got the smallest squad in the football leagues (plural) into the Championship, 2 cup finals , and beating Man Utd in the FA cup.

Another clique is "those who do not learn the lessons of history are detined to repeat them"

What South Bank Hanks said....

What is it with people when we lose a game Tilson should be sacked.

Losing games is part and parcel of football.

Before last night we got 7 out of 9 points from the previous 3 games, now we lose one and its Tilson out !?!?!

If we beat Bournemouth on Saturday it will be 10 points out of 15 which is a decent tally.

There have been disappointments recently but we have had an upturn in performances overall and are still well within reach of the play offs.

You are a pr@t for this stupid comment!

good call, and should shut shrimperjon up! Have some Green!

i appreciate your comments and take them on board. im not going to start having a go back. this is a forum and we are all entitled to our opinions. i do not appreciate being called a prat. i am a season ticket holder who attends games home and away. i have supported the club for 28 years and attended just short of 500 games. i appreciate all that tilson has done and yes he has providied us with many good times. but we are so inconsistent and that comes from the management team. to label him is the same category as ferguson. wenger and jose is absurd. but we are concedeing more goals this year than last and can not defend set peices. someone has to take this on board. also, i wasnt necessarily calling for his head, it was a more tongue in cheek comment. mayb some of you need to wake up and smell the coffee. you are blinded by sentiment!!!

Found it really hard to stomach the number of people around me last night shouting for Tilly to go. There was a hardcore small group of singers making themselves unpopular but trying really hard with the "we only sing when we're winning" amongst others. Grumbling's fine but we do have to try and show a united front not have factions arguing with each other.

We all need to feel good about the team again and that's only going to come about through winning a few games, look how we started last night, amazing noise and all singing from the same hymn sheet. Was it only coincidence that once that dropped off so did the way the team was playing?
