Mitchell Cole

Great news on the stadium but if the squad isn't added too soon I fear Martin has got his priorities wrong.... let's face it Roots Hall aint that bad compared to some..

Er yeah.

We should have put off the stadium until we got a couple of players in. !?!

Thats very short sighted, the stadium is what is required for the long term future of the club.

Roots Hall isnt bad compared to some, ie league two stadiums. Its however extremely poor for CCC level, and compared to many league one stadiums.

Theres a bigger picture out there.....

Someone on the bus said this, he said he didnt want the ground. Gets me annoyed really, he said he would rather we improve the squad.

More revenue = building a better squad, for a much longer period of time, instead of blowing it all now.

It's not just about Cole, it's about investing in the squad. I can remember going to West Brom last time we were in the second flight, and a bloke was saying the same thing ... no investment in the squad just concentrated on the new ground and they suffered. Why not do both, why has one got to suffer, you surely can't agree with getting shot of players before getting them in..

I take it, you have meet Jame? AKA: CSJ who was banned from Shrimperzone.com

Darren Ferguson was on Talksport talking about his new job - said he was
taking a coach and fitness trainer/sportscientist with him. Look what happened to Joe Cole once a modern coach got hold of him - its perhaps an
investment SUFC should be making and a higher level of athleticism might really have helped a player like this - it gives confidence as well.

Getting the highest level of fitness is a specialist area and things have changed a lot at most of the top clubs from even a few years ago -

And the shape of the England cricket team are in is a fair reflection of
retro thinking that thinks just playing the game is enough -

Bit of a hobby horse of mine but something that I think makes a difference -
and extends players careers as well - AND loads of managers just don't believe in it.

I don't know how well the club are equipped like this but getting the relevant person in is a lot cheaper than a player -

Have to agree with you there. Whenever a fellow Championship team visit, their bench is full of trainers, coaches etc - we only have Tilly, Brushy, John the physio and Lee the goalkeeping coach. Surely they need at least another coach to share the workload?

Yes, haven't spoken to him but as I was outside the CIVIC centre on wednesday I saw someone being introduced to him.

Well, our squad is now down to 19, plus Moussa and Welch.

Surely Tilly's got someone lined up? Hope so. Then again, I trust the guy so if no-one joins then he knows best.

I.M.H.O I am sad to see him go!Thought like the rest of you on here that he showed some great touches and was starting to mature abit, but his crossing leaved alot to be desired, still I think we will regret letting him go, was one for the future in my book, ( at least another season anyway ).

So thats Smith and Cole gone for good. With Che Wilson at Brentford and Lawson at the Cherrys. With only McCormack coming in. Surely Tilson has someone inline to help boost numbers??!!

Well you would hope so :)

I think its a positive sign to be honest. I liked Cole and am disappointed to see him go but the fact he has been let go has to mean that Tilly wants to bring better in.

Maybe a season or two in the conference will do him good - talented player just needs to toughen up a bit.

Now I hope we get a player or two in. I read in the Echo that O'Donovan is only 300k, and we haven't met that yet. Why not? Surely Ron can fork out 300k, this lad sounds like a hot talent!

300k sounds pricey, considering they only wanted 60k for O'Callaghan.

200k for O'Donavon would be some good business, with Coley bringing in at least 100k.
