You rave about Fred this boy will be the same on the left and will make the same if not bigger impact.

Very Tricky, Pacey Sweet Left Foot, Good Head on Shoulders and scores goals. Will also be your dead ball expert now, scored 2 goals from corners last year (although doubt he will get away with it in league 1)

We are gutted but also we live in real world where we know we wont keep these players for ever.

Cheers mate, sounds promising. Also a left footer. Should give us a nice balance on the flanks, and a bit more of a threat from set plays. Is he an out and out winger, or can he operate as a forward as well?

Sounds like an astute buy, obviously hes signed on the promise of a regular place in the starting 11, looks like petterfer will be packing his bags very soon now we have got a winger who can actually score and take the weight of expectation of the usual suspects(Gower,Fredy,Gray,Barrett). Gower is so overated from what I have seen

I always liked the look of Nicky when I see him, maybe head was not right.

Sorry to disappoint you mate but Cole plays on the left wing, so Petts will be staying put

Pettefer has played the vast majority of games on the right of midfield, with either Gower or Nicolau (or in the latter part of the season Guttridge) on the left.

Getting rid of Petts would be a bad move IMHO. An essential player last season and the type of gritty, hard working, run-all-day, sort of player we'll need next season.

Petts played left-wing when he first came to Southend. He only moved to the right to accomodate Gower's desire to cut inside rather than because that was his prefered position.

Doesn't Petts switch to the left to aid Che in his defensive work, as Gower hasn't made a tackle in his career?

Hopefully Cole will be able to tackle a bit more, meaning that Petts can stay on the right.

Wonder what Guttridge would have to say?

I'm wondering whether Guttridge might be an option up front. I know he missed that sitter at Northampton in the play-offs but from what I gather he played more centrally for Cambridge than he has for us thus far.
