Post-Match Thread and Ratings Millwall 2-0 Southend United

Well, we know you'd keep Moussa in no matter what!!! He's been pants last several games!

If there is a better alternative then let's hear it! I've generally agreed with Tillys team selections, even when Macca was really out of form too... Just because I tend to believe that it's best to give players a proper run of games and a chance to improve. The fact that O'Keefe has only just made a fluke appearence after we've been short of players says it all to me, he's not really up to scratch.

I'd hope Tily can bring in a midfielder in this window, and hopefully that will put some pressure on our current players (Macca and Moussa both included) and it'll give Tilly some genuine options

Im a Moussa fan, but would give him a few weeks rest at the moment.

I'd have a midfield (if fit) of Macca, Grant and Laurent + a left winger - who need to bring in second only to a centre back. For now a herd / malone would at least give us some balance and is worth a try over Scannell, Moose, Walker, Freedman, any others who have failed there this season?

I hate watching someone with no left foot playing left wing. The opposition constantly show them inside and crowd them out. Tilly has tried this since Mark G left, but Gower had the benefit of a half decent left foot so defenders didn't know where he was going.

Jon, every time I've seen O'Keefe both in the ressys and as a sub I've been impressed. To me, he is our future and if Tilly can give him more pitch time then I am 100% in favour of that.

I'd happily give Moussa a rest if we could get away with it, but Macca has gone and got himself a two match ban and we just don't have the bodies to rotate things around.

O'Keefe might look ok in the very few times he's played (personally stiffs doesn't count because it's played a 2mph). If tilly doesn't want to play him more then I'd trust his judgement. I heard that once O'Keefe earned his pro contract he became a Billy Big Bollocks and thought he had made it, unlike Moussa and Ademeno who put their heads down and worked hard.

Like I said (!) if Tilly can get a midfielder in then perhaps a rest would do Moussa good, however it just isn't looking likely at the mo

They said it was Anthony Grant at fault on SSN?

It was Grant's fault as in he gave it away, but if I was Steve Tilson I'd be giving a bollocking to the several players who failed to give him an easy ball - including Scannell. The lack of movement and players offering themselves is a real issue at the moment.

Probably because he only has one striker infront of him instead of two. 5 across midfield can be crowded, and with no forward passes on (i.e. The striker is usually marked) it's no surprise he can't get into the game. He's out of form, but I think Tilly is right to persevere and hopefully Moussa will play his way back into form.

Id look at going back to 442 with scannell-moussa-jeff-grant across the middle and laurent alongside paterson

I think this would be my line-up as well (possibly even if McCormack was fit). I'm not hugely enamoured by it, but I think it probably offers us the best balance we're going to get.

My main concern would be how well Laurent and Paterson up front would work.

Since when has being pants been a reason for Tilly to drop someone this season?

cf Alan McCormack

I'd still like to see Moussa paired with a ball winner in central midfield, a proper winger and a wide midfielder. I don't think he's had a game in this midfield yet, despite it being the most basic midfield.
