Don't know if it has been mentioned already, but thats the first league game Rotherham have lost home and away since 30th October...

can anyone tell me the name of the team that beat them in that fixture?? hmm

southend played **** today rotheram were all over us tbh we deserved to lose
blair sturrock is complete **** and only plays coz his dad is manager

Ronnie, this is the last act of a desperate man, getting a username for the Southend forum and posting your bile just because we took 6 points from your boys. Stick to the Rotherham forum and leave us alone.:hilarious:

Thoroughly enjoyed today. No traffic on the way up, decent performance and 3 points.

We played well first half, but predictably played a little within ourselves in the second, but defended stoutly enough to take a deserved three points.

Morris 8 Some decent saves and looked more assured than usual
Clohessy 8 Good cross for the goal and linked up brilliantly with Hall out wide
Gilbert 7 Good game for the full back, one of his most solid since he's been here
Coughlan 7 One dodgy, but did well otherwise, and stood firm to help weather the storm towards the end.
Barker 7 Second game he's made Le Fondre look very ordinary. Assured.
Hall 9 MOTM Excellent from start to finish, no drifting out of the game as he's prone to. An assist, a goal and a constant threat
Soares 6.5 Better game from Soares, perhaps should of scored, and does expose the left back with his poor positioning. Sacrificed to allow Grant to nullify their left winger
Grant 7.5 quiet first half, but won so many tackles second half. Constantly breaking up Rotherham attacks
Easton 7 Quietly efficient, did his job well.
Corr 6 Very quiet game for him, nothing came off and probably should of been brought off for the quicker Paterson to help ease the pressure towards the end. Silly booking.
Sturrock 7 Tremendous first half - probably the best 45 mins I have seen from him, but struggled second half with not much coming off until the last 5.

Ferdinand 6 Came on but didn't get much of a chance to shine with all the Rotherham pressure. No mistakes though, and tidy with the little possesion he had.

Sturrock Snr 7 Did well to motivate the team to a great start, and a good tactical sub to nullify the threat on the left with Grant. Should of used his other subs to help ease the pressure with fresh legs towards the end as it became very tense in the last 10 mins.

Fans 8 Loud, and constant singing. Good support for the team, and it showed as the players came over and gave as big an applause to the fans, as the fans did to the players. Also good to see the subs come over and clap the fans and the 12 players involved including Pato high fiving Corr, and congratulating Blair, showed good squad unity.

Let's hope we can transfer our away form to Roots Hall and get something from Bury next Friday.

.......blimey, found a bloke, or maybe 12 year old kid, that makes Michael Macintyre look funny!

Great Away day for TZ. The winners of the Zone competition were treated as VIP's as were all on Zone1 as per usual and found a lovely club for our watering hole.
The wind was a major factor on and off the coach but we looked assured and comfortable for the most part.
A souless ground for football but alot better than some other venues we've seen.
We got back after 9 which included dropping some Shrimpers off at Newport Pagnal which left time for a few beers.
A fact from the Stinky Quiz Master yesterday was it's been 31 years since we lost away at Rotherham. I think it may now be 32?
Keep the faith.

I half think that too, but if he isn't going to make sarcasm clear what did he expect to happen?

Not sure about sarcasm --- this is another quality post by the same author ------

"mate if you were a loyal fan ans went to watch the game yu would have seen how diabolical we are
i think i'm better than blair ****** sturrock"

Yeah, having now read a few of his other thoughtful insights I can see that he's being serious

I believe you are wrong as all those with less than 5 before the turn of the year get scrapped.

They don't get scrapped as such and would still count towards the 10 by 11th April deadline.

5 cautions on or before 31 December; 1 match suspension
10 cautions on or before 11 April; 2 match suspension
15 cautions at any time in season; 3 match suspension

Just seen the Football League Show goals, I probably did B.Sturrock a little bit of discredit regarding his goal. Although he was unmarked his header was superb, powerful and into the top corner where it couldn't be stopped. Great stuff!

You're right, both well taken goals. The one conceded looks a bit shoddy and as if the defence were being headless chickens, shame about that, but Ronnie Moore can have no doubt about the quality of our two goals.

Do you mean "Ronald 'I am Southend United's Greatest Fan' Moore" ?

The first goal is an example of Corr and Sturrock linking up. They are actually pretty good at this type of thing. It was a good, well-directed flick on from Corr, Sturrock then holds the ball up just long enough for Clohessy to get far enough forward to get the right angle on the cross.

A cold but excellent day out in Sheffield - first time I've been to the Don Valley Stadium, big, empty and soulless!

Was disappointed that Gilbert was in for Herdy, but I've got to say he was a lot more solid and had a good game. Blair worked hard, first half especially, and his header was excellent for his goal - felt a little disappointed for Paterson, but the lad has tonsilitus so good that he was rested. Half expected Phillips to get a game, but again, Coqlhan was outstanding.

Morris 8 One save down to his left in the second half was superb.
Clohessy 8 Back to his rampaging self!
Gilbert 7 Good game
Coughlan 7 A rock
Barker 7 Experience tells, excellent.
Hall 9 MOTM Ran Rotherham ragged.
Soares 5 The weak link
Grant 7 Was crunched a few times, but battled all day
Easton 7 Battler
Corr 6 Very quiet game, but held the line
Sturrock 7 Outstanding first half, faded second
Ferdinand 6 Solid

Sturrock Snr 7 Don't like the fella, but hats off to him, got it right.

Fans 8 All 241 (I think that's what was said) in good voice. Especially liked us all walking down the stairs to wave at the players at the end. Like the way Corr/Pato and Blair were all high fiving each other and patting each other on the back.

One BIG disappointment - Adam La Fondue - simply rubbish!
