Mid-Season Review

Let's be honest it's been disaster! Wasn't going to be easy but I think the majority were expecting better than what we currently got. The management have been poor interms of inability to change tactical approach to games which has lead to constant boring predictable defensive football which opponents have found easy to work out, Maher being to stubborn to change the formation to give the team different diamention going forward instead we continue to be heavily reliant on our wing backs to supply the creativity in the final third...... so predictable. With all that said I don't think COSU have backed Maher sufficiently in areas which needed addressing. My hope is things improve going forward into the second half of the season and if they decide to stick with Maher then COSU need to give Maher better backing in the transfer window, instead of not going into September with 1 available striker given you been backed with average gate of 7k at home games with 4k shelling out £400 on season tickets thats poor COSU and I hope you learn from those mistakes you made this season going forward.

Well, it isn't 4,000 x £400, is it. Concessionary prices apply to a large portion, including those up to 22 years of age, those over 60 (I think this is correct), family enclosure and certain emergency service workers.

I’ve got to have my penny worth on our mid season review. Here we go as I see it generally;
1/ Squad strength - poor/ok
2/ Management 3 - poor
3/ Recruitment - Poor/ ok
4/ Consortium. - Good
5/ Scouting. - Ok
Think with no current additions in the playing squad in January. My personal view is we will finish around 16th in the league this season.

We are playing the most boring football, we are dull, unimaginable, easy to defend against and easy to stop us attacking. We need to get rid of 5-3-2 formation too.

Gateshead, Altricham and Dagenham & Red playing fun and entertaining football on less than half of our budget, would be better to swap our team and manager for Dagenham team and their manager!

That's really easy for fans to do - go and watch D&R instead.

No. If you read what I wrote, you'll see that's not what i said at all. You pinned it all on those 2 leaving though, as if that was the silver bullet. It isn't.
That's why I said it was "deceptively easy". You said it would have been "a bit better if those two had stayed". I contend it would have been a lot better, but there are obviously other reasons too.

Incorrect. Dagenham have a bigger playing budget than we do. As do a number of other teams.

On that, I would be interested to know if Bromley’s playing budget was bigger than any of the others in the play offs with them.

Ben Strevens sacked today so your first choice is available, perhaps contact COSU and let them know.

We really do not have a bigger budget, our budget was slashed and is still being slashed hence the Justham scenario, our budget is bottom 8 and we could never afford some of the signings you made. We will start next season with no players earning more than £1k a week.

You can swap your team for Daggers if you want. I'll stay with what we've got.

How accurate is your source of this information as if true I imagine it could have a negative impact on season ticket renewals

This really can’t be true? So there are 15 teams with significantly less revenue than us, not just with attendances, but other income streams as well, that have a bigger playing budget?

Also if the second part of that statement is true then more than half the squad would have to be let go in the summer.

You’ve got the wrong end of the stick mate. Digger is a D and R fan and talking about their budget not ours I think.

Given the option of trusting individuals on a forum whom I know nothing about re: their experience in business, or successful businessmen, I'll choose to go with the latter. No offence, just my choice.

As for Maher, I'm a fan of his, but have my doubts. However, I have been weighing things up against facts regarding our club's recent past and issues this season and am hoping (cautiously) that he turns things around.

Don't forget the Rat was a businessman too.Just saying. :Winking:
