As I hinted the other day, although it was seemingly over looked! Matt is basically free to leave us in this window. He's currently in talks with two League 2 clubs, 1 being a former club of his.

It'll be up to him if he wants to pursue more regular action.

Missing the point J. Our current forwards have scored 2 league goals between them this season. The point is when he plays the side is more balanced.

Clarke and Barrett are presumably going to continue to hoof it so surely its better to have a taller bloke up front.

Matt Harrold will find his footballing level eventually, unfortunately it isn't in League One of the Football League and that is all there is to it.If we played him for another 20 games I doubt he would score two goals.And if you play up front you have to score goals, it really isn't good enough to be able to hold the ball up or win the ball in the air, Bradbury could hold the ball up but couldn't score enough goals, GoalDroughton could head the ball but couldn't score enough goals, its that simple.

The continuing Matt Harrold obsession baffles me. The guy is dropped for 8 games, our form continues to stutter then get worse, he comes back and plays one game (which we win 5-2) and a thread more or less devoted to slagging this one player off is the most popular on Shrimperzone. Very odd.

good post, thats what im thinking, i know Harrold aint the best player in League one but why he takes all the abuse i dont know?? Strikers need confidence, he's never gonna get that while being slated every time he gets the ball

The whole point of this forum is to discuss all things SUFC.

I agree with this up to a point. The trouble is that the obsessive slating of one player on message-boards will inevitably affect the more easily influenced of our support. So, on match day, a misplaced pass by Harrold will not be greeted with a groan but often with a: "**** off Harrold! You're ****ing useless!"

These message boards are absolutely for analysis, positive and negative, but this Harrold obsession has mutated into something more unpleasant than that.

That is just risible J. On that basis you aren't even a Southend supporter - your just a camp follower - end of. And your signature is just disgraceful aimed at a current member of the squad. Frankly it baffles me why the mods allow it, it goes far beyond the bounds of fair comment.
