Mark Gower to the Owls ?

I hope this is not true. After the season he has had and bearing in mind the sort of money we will have to shell out to find his replacement, I'd be looking for at least £400,000 before even considering accepting a bid.

We're not going to sell: Ron Martin said "we are not a selling club".....

Not good news this. Mark Gower is in my view one of the most gifted players we have. Whilst i'm not sure he'd be an automatic choice at SWFC it would be a good move for him. Lets's hope Ron is as good as his word and we prove not to be a selling club.

250k would be a decent bid for him, considering there have always been question marks hanging over him in terms of his general fitness.

If such a bid does materialise then this will be a good indicator of whether Ron Martin means what he says or if he just said that to the media to warn off clubs thinking about getting Freddy on the cheap.

To be honest I'd take that if it's true.
A great bit of business in terms of profit for SUFC.

Well I wouldn't. One of the very few players who didn't look exposed at the higher level last season. Anyway, we would only know if it were a great bit of business when the money was spent.

If they come in for him with a serious bid, I seriously think Gower will kick up a fuss if we refuse him the oppurtunity and he'll have a season similar to Eastwood has had this season...

In my opinion, I don't think it'll be a tragic loss. The loss of Macca, Clarke or Hammell would be far more of a blow. Gower tends to drift in and out of games, and if he gets such as a knock to his back then that's him out for 2-3 weeks.

think you have a point there ...however, on one hand Gower has a youngish family and not sure that he would uproot them to move away....on the other hand because of his family and wanting to provide for them, he may see it as a good oppurtunity to give them more, your guess is as good as mine on if he will go....

I agree that he drifts in and out of games sometimes but I dont know how you can say he wont be a tragic loss. He is one of the best players we have and 10 goals from midfield in a relegation season tells you that. In L1 I expect him to be excellent and very important if we are to push for success next year.

Sorry have to disagree. Hammel more of a loss???? Are you serious? Gower got 10 goals in a poor team, creates more goals than any other player and has worked very hard on his defensive side. You dont get players like that for cheap so he would be impossible to replace. Macca for all his energy has no real guile in his game and I believe JCR has contributed one assist and 2 goals since signing for us.

Oh and if he has a similar season to Eastwood and scores 16 goals I dont think too many people would be complaining ;)

What, struggle with injury?

Gower is, after Eastwood, our only other creative player. In a team who struggle to score goals, losing one of your two creative players would surely be a far bigger blow than losing an average left-back like Hammell, even if that meant Che Wilson were to return at left-back.

i think the stats say that fred provided the most assists this season

also i don't know how people could contemplate setting gower.. we only have 2 wingers!!

To be fair guys ive heard a move to Forest is more likely should they go up, reliable source..... he is a wanted midfielder having popped up with 10 League goals last year all be it with a struggling side, how many others in the Championship done that ?? WATCH THIS SPACE

fingers crossed we will do everything possible to keep him... serious money i would take, but 250k is far too low. over the past season he has proved the doubters over his fitness, keep him fit and he will continue to improve
