Mark Gower to the Owls ?

Up here in Sheffield there are rumours that Mark Gower may be on his way to Hillsborough. Fee £250,000.

Has anyone heard anything the sunnier side of the Watford gap to either corroborate or refute this ?

To be honest I'd take that if it's true.
A great bit of business in terms of profit for SUFC.
They must have a bit of cash to splash, if they bid £1.5m for Billy Sharp (rejected by Scunny)!

Dont know if Id want him to go, Gower has been pretty good the last 18 months and I wonder who we would replace him with for £250k

I would be sad to see him go but £250k is a decent price and I think he deserves a chance at the big time...

I hope we hold on to him though....

10 goals in a season, one less than our star striker in terms of league goals and he is a midfield player. That record speaks for itself esp for a team just relelgated. Dont think we can afford to lose him really. However, it isnt the first time I had heard something like this about Gower in the last couple months....

Be a devastating loss if he goes, but wouldnt blame him. Think they will have a good chance of going up next season, esp if they get Sharp.

I think it would be a big loss to us. He is our most creative midfielder by some distance... for all JCR's trickery, and for all Maher's passing, they don't create as many opportunities as Marky Gower. That, plus the ten goals from midfield, would be a really big blow.

As rumours go, it may well have legs - Brian Laws will be a lot more familiar with Gower's ability than most other managers in the Championship, having faced us plenty of times as Scunny boss.

A big, big shame if he went - though I wouldn't begrudge Marky the chance to shine at a bigger club than ours, and which is (unlike us) still in the Championship.

:(

Mmm, that would mean my username would be out of date.

I think he'll stay though, his fitness record isn't the best over the past few seasons and that may put off any suitors.
