DACKERS IS BACK UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON!

By Southend United FC

The Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of striker Marcus Dackers until the end of the current season.
Dackers joins from League Two club Salford City, returning to Roots Hall after playing six games in a brief loan spell at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign.
Since then, he has been loaned to fellow National League outfits Woking and Altrincham, also appearing 11 times for Salford in the league.
Now 21, Dackers scored three goals for Blues as a 19-year-old, against Chesterfield, Wealdstone and Woking.
As a youngster, he was in Manchester City’s academy, moving onto Brighton in 2015, before the transfer to Salford came about in 2021.
Dackers is raring to get back in a Blue shirt. Arriving back at the Club, he said: “I’m delighted to be here. My first time here was short but sweet and I really enjoyed it.
"This time I’ll have more time to settle in and play as many games as possible and score as many goals as I can.

“I’ve kept up to date with the team and seen the progress that’s been made. There have been lots of chances created so I feel like with the quality in the team, and adding myself to that, I can make something really good happen here.”
Our new signing will don the number 15 again, the same shirt number he wore in his previous spell with the Club.

Welcome back, Marcus!

Marcus will be sponsored by Bryan Woodford (home) and Pier View Luxury Apartments (away). Thank you to them both for their support.

Decent player Dackers. Never really had a sustained run in any team he has played for. I’d imagine that is about to change and we will hopefully reap the benefits of doing so.

Interesting this one being announced today rather than 1:30pm tomorrow, I guess the secret is probably out so no need to play smoke and mirrors.

And we supporters are delighted to have him back. [Thumbs up]

We play Chesterfield & Wealdstone this month so more goals against them would be very welcome. [laughing face; smiley face]

It should be interesting to see how he does versus his time at Salford. Salford are 4th from bottom in the league above (lost 4 & drawn 2 of their last six) whilst we would be in the play-offs (or close but for the points deduction). Sometimes I think that there is little in difference between a team fighting against relegation compared with a team going well in the league below. [Shoulder shrug; query face]
