Marcus Dackers Joins On Loan

Only have the CV to judge by but hard to see how this does anything other than bolster the numbers for a month. Fingers crossed though...

Not sure what role Cosgrave plays now then?

We now have six fit forwards

Two who offer lots of chasing and harrying for our pressing game but no end product (Powell and Cosgrave)
Two to play down the middle (Wreh and Dackers)
Two who are mercurial attacking midfielders who can dribble past a player (Mooney and Bridge)

Almost a 1 in 2 average last season at Chester in the National North.

A giant at 6' 7" tall. But mobile, technical and aggressive with it I am informed.

Completely different option to what we currently have available. A proper Centre Forward.

Only a month long loan. But I imagine no issues extending if he does well or the likes of Hyde, Cards and Murphy need more time.

Sensible business.

Good work @StanCollymore & Team.

Salford only in the division above too, so unless he's gonna be going straight into their first team, I can't see them not letting us keep him longer if he's getting good minutes here.

It's a bit excessive IMO. I thought we were cutting down on numbers in the team but we seem bloated again with only a dash of game-winning quality here or there.

That's because you're not differentiating between a "forward" and a "striker". The only fit "strikers" that we have are Dackers and Wreh.

Why bring in Cosgrave then? I thought our wide forwards were one of the last areas we needed extra numbers in.

As for out and out strikers I make you right. I welcome Dackers to the club because we've needed some height in that front line but not understanding the other loan at all...

7 goals in 8 games in the NPL Premier Division and 9 goals in 19 games at National League North Chester.

“His manager at Chester, Steve Watson, described him as "a big lad but he is a good mover. You get people of that size and they can be immobile but he’s not. He is a good athlete".

Sounds like a really good signing and still only 19.

No doubt there will be unbridled delight that he seems to take penalties- for Salford in pre-season friendly and Chester last year..

It's only a month, presumably to give everyone else more time to regain full fitness and not have to play them before they're ready.

There's a number of possible reasons. Maybe Dackers wasn't available at the time. Maybe KM has decided he's not up to the job and has gone for someone else. There's a number of possibilities, who knows?

One thing I do know is that if he's a success no-one will be complaining we've got too many strikers, we'll just be complaining when he goes back.

Agree. Only slight concern is that we are always told there is little difference between L2 and NL, and for some reason, despite presumably offering something different, he is not currently sufficiently in Salfords first team plans to keep him there.

But we do need more aerial threat and I assume he brings that
