Manager Sacking and Appointment Thread

By Chris Phillips@cjphillips1982Chief sports reporter.

BRAINTREE Town have appointed Steve Pitt as their new first-team manager.

Pitt, who worked as assistant manager to Angelo Harrop from the summer of 2022 to his departure at the end of 2023, has taken charge of the National League club.

He has taken over from Harrop, who parted company with Braintree last week.

Chairman Lee Harding told the club's website: "When we approached Steve about the job he was about to take another role in the game.

"We talked at length about what had happened and were impressed with his honest assessment of where the club is at and his thoughts on turning our season around.

"We all know there is work ahead of us but we know Steve well.

"It's good to see him back at our club.

"He played a pivotal role in our progress in the past two seasons and I am confident that we can look forward to the remainder of the season with optimism."

Braintree are currently 19th in the National League table.

You’re welcome to him.

To be honest we have so many backroom staff I doubt there is a place for him unless they create a new role. I was surprised when Anthony Wordsworth was taken on to coach in one of the academy groups, but that is a part time role as he still plays for Maldon and also coaches there.

I’d say we are well staffed too now that Demi is part of the coaching set up.

Thought so, no doubt he will pick something up soon, I don’t see him moving far from this area so maybe one of the other local clubs will need him unless of course he decides to get out of football and do something else.

I always thought that was his intention as he was doing something on the side when with us with Dan Kirby (RIP) and Trade Price Cars.

Wasn't he also involved with Herbalife although I am not sure how well that is doing now.

Yes I remember him being involved with the trust and Trade Price Cars, I am sure he is not short of a few bob but will obviously want to find something eventually. I hope he gets himself sorted he is a decent bloke, I am surprised he got involved with that crap Herbalife, but many players did get into it a few years ago.

Among other things, he's helping to organise a massive chicken wing eating competition at Roots Hall next May, for charity of course. They want about 1000 entrants, but were looking for someone to supply or hopefully donate 50,000 chicken wings.
