Magilton Sacked - Someone Tie Tilson Down

Slipperduke

The Camden Cad
Jim Magilton has been sacked by Ipswich and, given that they've tried for our manager in the past, I think it's safe to assume that they'll try again. Can we lock Tilson in a room until they give up searching for him?

Do you not think though their moneybags owner will want more of a name like Ferguson or Ince though?

Depends how clever he is.

With no money, Tilson's taken a team from 91st to two promotions, one play-off campaign, two cup finals, victory over Man Utd and a serious fright for Chelsea.

Ferguson has spent money well for his one (maybe two) promotions.

Ince has spent money well for his one promotion.

I know who I'd go for.

Hush your mouth!

Yep, all confirmed. Ipswich fans spokesman asking for Alan Curbishley.

Poor old Alan, he always gets linked with these jobs. He's the go-to guy for clubs with ideas miles above their station. The bloke has done almost ten season of Premier League football, what on earth would he want to drop down for?

I have to say, I didn't realise that Ipswich had this new Olympic CEO in charge. I think Glasgow is right. They'll go for a big-name former player to concrete their branding initatives and stimulate new revenue streams across a cross-platform agenda.

Paul Ince, it is.

Didn't Ince say he was only interested in a return to a Prem club? Ipswich is more his standard, I reckon I could have got MK Dons promoted with the cash he had in League 2

You have to think that this is a job Tilly might be interested in. How much further can he take Southend if there is no money being spent on the team?

He is a Southend man through and through but surely there comes a time when a better job comes along and he will be tempted. Let's face it, Ipswich Town is not a bad job and would be a step up for him to prove himself as a Championship level manager.

My mate asked me the other day about people approaching Tilson in the Summer and suggested Norwich or Charlton.

I immediately said Ipswich would be more likely (stating Norwich would most likely go for Mark Robins if anyone and Charlton I feel, will stick with Parkinson due to the cost of offloading him and paying somone else compensation).

Would be very interesting to see how Tilly would do elsewhere - but even though I've not been Tilly's biggest fan, I have quite warmed to the idea of keeping him!

Pardew has nearly finished his new house and spent all day Saturday advertising himself on five live ....

Tilsonis too cute to want to put his head in that noose ...

There you go with the old rose tinteds again - apart from the promotions, cup finals and actually giving premier league opposition a bit of a game - what has Tilson ever done for us?

Let him go, and then we can start a fresh next season and hopefully avoid another mid season run of no wins.......Tilson Out hes rubbish......just as his record suggests....tongue in cheek of course!

The prospect of another season trying to get Southend in the top six with no money, could well see him move on, if an offer came in from a Champ side.

I'm hoping and praying that Ipswich go for a "name" to come in like Ferguson, Ince, Bothroyd or Pardew.

If Tilly did want to make the step up again, Ipswich would be a good move for him what with it being local.

Again, it all depends on this bloke. If he knows anything about football at all, he'll run a mile from Boothroyd because Ipswich aren't a hoofball club. That's why I've always thought that Tilson would end up there; they've got the same ideology.

Having just watched an interview with this bloke, it's clear that he's one of those post1997, New Labour-style, talk lots say nothing, branding and image rights titbags that I love so much. It'll be style over content, name over experience. It'll be a recently retired ex Prem player.
