We were always going to take a garuanteed away sell out for financial reasons, despite only having to offer them 10% of ground capacity.

That means they will have the North West corner as well. Therefore we probably wont be able to use Block X for home fans. So only 8,500 or so home tickets available for this match, mind you that will be enough if we cant get automatic promotion by then.

I hear that they are not making it all ticket for Luton's visit to Dagenham & Redbridge despite Luton selling their allocation for the game. Don't want to turn away revenue so expecting Luton fans in the away end and seemingly happy to put up with that for the money it will bring in. A recipe for disaster I reckon. :nope:

I expressed concerns to the club in an email after the trouble at the Cambridge game and after the trouble we encountered at Luton away. Steve Kavanagh emailed back and understood my concerns but in a roundabout way we couldn't afford to turn away the revenue. I had suggested giving Luton an allocation of 1300 the same as they gave us. SK said that it wouldn't make financial sense, as Luton can all but guarantee selling out their allocation, whereas, we couldn't guarantee selling the other half of the North Bank. I think he is right in one hand, but can't help thinking this game has got trouble written all over it especially if there is anything riding on the result.

We could sell it but it would cost us too much to segregate part of the North

Yep, definitely the police would have been consulted, but it's the policing outside the ground that is the key factor, here, I think.

Agreed.
One thing that bothers me is that pathetic hooligan forum where Cambridge and Luton were winding each other up. After recent events I hope we don't end up with two coaches full of Luton idiots with something to prove.

Having said that if they intend to come to Southend, they will come regardless of ticket allocation. The plus side of allowing the extra 1000 fans will be the club has a lot more money to spend on police. May I suggest a few more in the ground as well. Call me inspector Dukenfield, but I don't think our stewards will be much of a deterrent if a few thousand Hatters decide to invade the West stand.

If we end up playing them in the play offs as well it would be interesting to see what away allocations would be given. Would be a kick in the teeth if we gave them double what we would get at their place....

Have I missed something? We've had many a sold out away end down here before and not had any problems. I must have missed any trouble at Kenilworth Road in October.

The hospitality areas sold out suspiciously quickly for this game too. A few Bedfordshire postcodes, I reckon.

the game will be a dead rubber. we will already be confirmed in the play offs and therefore there will still be 3 or hopefully 4 more games to go , and Luton's season will either be over here or their final home game of the season the week after ....

so without the promotion frenzy being decided on apr 25th , very little chance of aggro. If , however , we do get them in the play offs , a different kettle of fish.

Certainly hope not.

There's been trouble at 1 home game for x number of years now there is going to be trouble here because they have 2500 tickets, I think not. A quote taken from the Cambridge firm forum 'OB well on top'
