Apparently the Kaiser Chiefs have now been installed as intelligence agents for the London Authorities and other cities. They have an uncanny knack of sniffing our disorder

I think game will be on now unless major problems actually happen very close to Southend before the game starts
but find it all very sickening and wouldnt like to be caught up in any of it

As for the Orient crowd, it may or may not be affected. Contrary to earlier in this thread, there has been trouble in Leyton, but then again few Orient fans live there. On the flip side, this is all coming as a massive, depressing shock to everyone I'm speaking to; people are going to be less keen to leave their families too. Imagine there'll be fewer than expected.

I'm more worried about you lot coming down and looting Southend's vaste array of pound shops. You will probably have exhausted your manner by kick off.

All the orient fans at my work have decided not to go tonight and I have also, family is more important and I'm not risking leaving my fiancé and baby at home on their own.

The game should be called off for many reasons, expect a very low attendance I'm afraid.

With the possible exception of a couple of isolated pockets in Hackney and South London, London is safe. I'm sure Southend is the same. What we are seeing is opportunistic looting not widespread rioting.

The only reason to call off the game is because the police would be better deployed preventing that opportunistic looting.

Tell them that, they had people running down their street last night causing havoc in Romford/Ilford

With Southend on the list to get done, Lakeside evacuated what's the point in risking it

Or maybe the government could grow a pair, allow those responsible the necessary power to stop this and it would be over in an hour or two,

Was in lakeside earlier for a couple of hours. I've heard of lots of 'definite sightings' of buildings on fire, none of which have turned out to be true....

Are you sure about that ?

Well, no. I'm not aware of any large-scale trouble between the two of us in recent years but I'm not exactly in the know on these things, being a young innocent boy. I've never witnessed any and I'm not aware of Orient having much of a firm. Maybe you could enlighten me. I just meant that it's a Carling Cup 1st round midweek game, with a likely crowd of around 3-4000. We hardly need hundreds of riot police on duty and the game certainly doesn't need to be postponed. And fingers crossed things seem a bit calmer today.

Can anyone confirm trouble in Southend?

Also hearing shops are closing early?

Oh also a Pitsea bank has been robbed of a five figure sum!

BREAKING NEWS.
Colchester Uniteds trophy room has been completely looted. Police are looking for a man with a Blue & White striped carpet.

A Pitsea bank has been robbed at gunpoint but no suggestion this is connected with the rioting in London. There's a difference between kids riding around on bikes kicking in windows and armed bank robbery.

And in the unlikely event the doom-mongers are right and Southend is about to be targeted, well there's going to be 3,000 (mostly) right-thinking people massed up in one place with pride in our town, we can defend it - let's just hope they don't hit while the game is going on!
