Logic behind giving the scum 2000+ seats for Friday.

As you well know we provided Portmam Road with its highest attendance of the season (including the visit of Norwich). We not only sold our allocation of 2300, we also filled up the home areas.

There are numerous reasons for this game being less popular

Let us not not forget that some of your allocation of only 1000 for Layer Road, made it to general sale this season, not to mention the 'beam-back' being cancelled due to lack of interest.

Lets not forget we had the support to do a beam back the year before and sell it out. In fact we had more people at the beam back than you will have at Roots Hall you dirty farm hand.

Home areas have sold out for all bar three or four games of the season. Any shortfall in those areas is due to ST no shows, particularly those in the forces who have been away on duty in Afghanistan and the like.

What a blessed relief that must have been for them. Given the choice between Kandahar and Colcheater there really is only one choice.

ipswich , you all support ipswich , you all support ipswich

Fair enough Matt_CUFC, although I'd like to add my own point of order to your point of order...

According to your official site your highest attendance is 6,065. Your away end holds about 700 to 1000? According to your official site you have had 12 sub 5,500 attendances this year out of 20 games so far - 6 of which were under 5100!

So, for a third of games so far you have been 1000 or more under capacity.

You reckon that this is all down to away fans not filling their allocations or legions of army types unfortunately being away for the unfashionable games?

:p

The official capacity is 6,300, with home areas 5,250 of that.

The average away support this season has been around 500-600, leaving 400-500 spare.

The remaining "missing fans" has been a subject of huge debate between all at the club - it is a strange one because it has mainly been ST holders not making it, although obviously not the same ones for every game!

As I posted on our board, as a point of interest, there have been a number of away crowds this season where they have sold X amount in advance but the turn up on the day is 60-70 short. Scale that up across seven home parts of the ground, and add in the shortfall from the away end in the first place, then it becomes nearer the figure cited.

The club have tried to encourage fans to offer up their ST if they know that they are unable to make a game and there is a Ticket Exchange forum on our messageboards. I know Norwich do a similar thing where seats can be released for re-sale with a credit given to a ST holder's account but don't know how feasible that is with terracing.

It is hugely frustrating when we have fans who want to come but cant because all available tickets have been sold, only for people not to collect them on the day or not attend for whatever reason (and obviously, extenuating circumstances can come into play to prevent them attending).
