Loanee Watch 2021-22

Level 7
Jimmy Wallace was on the bench for Bishop’s Stortford against Cheshunt. He wasn’t used - and it appears wasn’t needed - as Ronnie Irani’s side are set to run out comfortable 3-1 winners, despite the late consolation goal.

No Kinali for Hendon. I presume his month long loan back in late November hasn’t therefore been extended.

Level 8
Isthmian North
Miles Mitchell-Nelson was at the heart of the Canvey defence away at Grays. No clean sheet but another win for Canvey (3-1) and an impressive one as their hosts remain in the play-off spots despite Canvey taking all the points. Canvey, in second, are a point behind Stowmarket with a game in hand.

Tommy Davis played for Tilly’s Heybridge Swifts against Tilly’s old side Witham Town. Heybridge led 1-0 at the break but two second half goals gave Witham the lead before Heybridge drew level. Heybridge are in 10th, a far cry from where they were when Tilly took over.

Jon Benton picked up another assist for Aveley when his first half free kick was glanced in for their opener v Tilbury.Tilbury however equalised with 10 minutes to go. Aveley are in third two points behind Canvey but having played 2 more games so costly dropped points.

Southern League Central
No Harlow in action because of a covid outbreak.

The southend management knew nothing about this. They were going to bring him into the squad but then we’re told he’s staying at Aveley till the end of the season. Shame because he’s good enough to get in the southend team.
That's possible, but not every week. Would think Lewis Gard is ahead of him. He will learn more by playing for Aveley every week rather than sitting on the bench and getting a few minutes now and again. Exactly the same thinking in respect of Zak Brunt.

Level 7
Bishop’s Stortford’s game at Potters Bar was called off with a waterlogged pitch

Level 8
Isthmian North
Tommy Davis played in Heybridge Swifts’ game away at Coggeshall. He made an “outrageous goal line clearance” to help secure a clean sheet in a 2-0 victory. He was nominated as a man of the match contender as Heybridge consolidate their top half position.

Miles Mitchell-Nelson started for Canvey’s home game against struggling Great Wakering. A 2-0 lead however turned into a shock 3-2 defeat. MMN did have a header saved.

Jon Benton was in action for Aveley. They scored the opener from his corner, the third from his assist, the fourth from his corner and he set-up the fifth. The second was a penalty and at this stage I presume it was Benton who was fouled for that. He also had a shot cleared off the line. Not bad for a half’s work. Aveley added two more second half but no Benton involvement. The 7 (seven) - 0 win against the bottom side sees Aveley top.

Isthmian Premier
Bobby Unwin made his Hendon debut against a Hayes & Yeading side featuring former Shrimper Scott Donnelly. They had take the lead but he was subbed on 80 minutes shortly after they went down to 10 men with Hendon 2-1 down. That was the final score.

Jimmy Wallace was on the bench for Bishop’s Stortford’s game at Hornchurch. Ex-Shrimper Ellis Brown was on the bench for Hornchurch. Bishop’s stortford lost 2-0.

Isthmian North
Tommy Davis lined up for Tilly’s Heybridge against Basildon. He had a header blocked on the line. He helped keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win.

Jon Benton was up against Hashtag united. They hit the bar early on after a Benton cross before taking the lead. Benton added their second with a left foot shot curled into the top right. Aveley won 2-0.

No Miles Mitchell-Nelson for Canvey. They won 3-0 anyway.

Harlow were off today due to a waterlogged pitch.

Jon Benton seems to be doing outstandingly well at Aveley. Hopefully, Southend are monitoring his progress there.

I would be most surprised if they wasnt . thats why they send them out on loan to give them experience and match time. they certainly going to be monitoring all the young lads out on loan .As will clubs that loan players to us .

Bobby Unwin was in London Senior Cup action for Hendon against Balham FC. Hendon won 5-4 on penalties after the 90 minutes finished two a piece.

No Miles Mitchell-Nelson for Canvey’s Essex Senior Cup tie. Think he’s cup-tied (also he was on the bench this afternoon for the u23s at Ipswich).

Tommy Davies loan at Heybridge has ended and he will be going to Welling (managed by Peter Taylor, of this parish) again on loan. Welling are currently 18th in the National League South.

:Stunned:

That’s quite an aggressive promotion. He was getting playing time for Heybridge and that’s a decent size jump to the NL S. I’d have expected him to see the season out with Heybridge. Will be interesting to see if Heybridge get in a different u23 from us.

National League South
Tommy Davis made his debut for Spud’s Welling against Chelmsford, helping them to a clean sheet and a 0-0 draw away from home.

Isthmian Premier
Jimmy Wallace was on the bench against Brightlingsea. He came on with them 3-0 up and 12 minutes remaining and scored with his first touch.

They finished 5-0 winners.

Isthmian North

Aveley took on a Tommy Davis-less Heybridge. Jon Benton smashed the bar second half from distance and Alan McCormack came on as a sub for Heybridge, who then immediately conceded. Aveley best Tilly’s side 1-0.

No Miles Mitchell-Davis for Canvey. They won 6-2 against struggling Hullbridge.

In the various Southern League games no Bobby Unwin for Hendon and no team sheet (again) for Harlow.

Seemed to do well today and he’s got designs on a first team shirt here…

Was at the stortford game, very strong performance and looking to get into the top three over the next 2-3 weeks.
