Leon Constentine

Quote[/b] (Matt the Shrimp @ May 07 2004,18:30)]However, his goal against Brighton at the beginning of the 2000 season still remains one of my favourite ever moments at Roots Hall.
That goal....Carruthers looking like he was going on for a good season.....Zamora trying to walk the ball in but finding no way past our rearguard.....Convincingly beating promotion favourites (and eventual champions)....Happy Days

Then again, I can't remember the last time we weren't optimistic after the first day of the season and the two good Lee performances I saw (both vs. Brighton!!) don't make up for the rest of the sh*t we had to put up with!

Doesn't matter we can afford to lose three players to your side, we only need 8

Why the f*** would Constantine want to leave Southend to join Swansea? The only way he'll go is if he gets a club in a higher division. If Talbot rates him so highly then maybe he'll get an offer from Oldham.

Your link said absolutely Feck all about Connie!

You have got more chance of having a **** off the Pope than getting either of these players!

"Mmmm! Now which do I chose?...... Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City or Swansea?......

As for Iwan Roberts, from Norwich to Swansea - Get real!

That man has a couple more Division 1 seasons in him yet!

I'm afraid its 'silly season' time - lots of players are going to be linked with clubs, 99% of it will be just paper talk. Roberts has also been linked with Hull according to the BBC. Some of the links will be stories generated from players' agents trying to secure better contracts for the players they 'represent' (:O ). I'm afraid we'll have to put up with Constantine and 1 or 2 others being linked with other clubs, as no doubt some other clubs' players will be linked with us.

Is Marky Gower under contract? If not, I'm both worried that he may be available - and pleased that no clubs have mentioned him yet!

Yes, Gower is under contract.

I thought he was with Thurrock.

Maybe he has moved on to better things like Ford United or Hednesford!

Isn't Roberts a Welsh player, though? You could see him wanting to go to the Vetch for sentimental reasons...

Swansea have been lusting after Connie all season; but can't see a single good reason why he'd go to the land of sheep-shaggers, rather than staying in the South-East, which is his manor - Connie is a London boy, after all.

I'd be really surprised to see him join another Div 3 club - surely, if he were to leave, he'd be looking to move up a division, in terms of wages and also in terms of the footballing challenge being presented.

Yep, pretty sure Lee is non-league, and in Essex. Why not offer him an olive branch, together with a contract and low wages (£400 a week, say)?

Surely it's worth the gamble? Or am I being completely "rose-tinted" about all this...?

I agree that he may well wish to return home but of the possibles I would have thought Cardiff in Division 1 would be the next best thing?

There is no way either Roberts or Connie (If he leaves!) will be in Division 3 next season!
