3 players have had approaches- one player is staying (although not official yet- put it this way ORM will be happy). The other two are the two Leons. I reckon if one goes the other one might

This is bad news. Would be nice to give him a great reception tomorrow as it may have a tiny bearing on his feelings, if the fans cheer him on.

Oh well another one bites the dust.

If Connie can get a better offer with a higher division team then I guess that he owes it to himself to take it. As a Southend fan I wouldn't be happy, but I'd still thank him for the goals that he scored for us and wish him all the best.

If he goes to another Third Division side then I'm not sure I'll be quite so charitable. Same goes for Cort.

Quote[/b] (Kim Mitten @ May 07 2004,14:39)]Look at players over recent years who have buggered off for more money after having a good season in a southend shirt. Lee and Hutchings to name two.
When did Lee have a good season in a Southend shirt? He was only here for 1 season and spent most of it sulking about not being played in his favourite position. I know HE thought he had a good season but then his ego was greater than his talent.

Well he scored 10 goals from midfield which can't be sniffed at.

I always thought he was sh*t though.

I trust in Tilson. I believe that he can get a decent forward in if Constantine left. No basis to go on just I think as long as we keep Gower we will be alright. As for Cort I wouldn't cry too much if he went I think there is many better centre halfs that we might be able to tempt here.

I always thought he was bloody diamond... but a bit of a luxury player. A wonderful garnish to a side that was playing well; a passenger in a side playing badly.

However, his goal against Brighton at the beginning of the 2000 season still remains one of my favourite ever moments at Roots Hall.

Come back David, all is forgiven...

and he'd probably snatch Tilly's hand off if he approached him. Isn't Lee in non-league somewhere?

We need to make sure we keep hold of both Leon's. We should be looking to keep the team we have now together, and build on them, not get rid of a few of our best players and start from scratch again. It just doesn't work IMO. Time and time again we have got rid of players, bought in new ones and they dont play together well ie this season. Look at the start of the season through till Christmas time. It was poor at the best of times.

Constantine is our best striker, and i think we would be stupid to get rid of him

Unfortunately, we just don't have the financial resources to keep the team together if bigger clubs come in for some players. That's the reality of it.

As for the comment about Cort, and that it won't be that bad if he goes... just remember that Warren hadn't been offered anything up until the 'Meet The Players' evening that Napster went to. I agree that we could cope with Cort going if we at least retained Warren, but if he goes, we'll need Cort for some form of continuity.

Heard from a bradford fan yesterday that if they avoid administration in the next few weeks, that they'll be putting in a £200k bid for connie

Doubt it, they can have him for nothing in a few weeks time!

If Connie goes can the club flock his "silver boots" on ebay or better still put them in a raffle.

Connie scored in a friendly whilst at trial with Rushden... Nottingham Forest i think it was...
Brian Talbots not there anymore though and rumour has it he really rates him!
