Leeds United Fun & Games

A (normally) reliable source here told me over lunch that there are growing concerns about rumours that 5,000 ticketless fans are heading down from Leeds for the match at Roots Hall. I can't see it myself but is there any news from Essex?

Always get these rumors dont you.

I cant believe 5000 grim jobless northerners can afford or be arsed to travel for six hours to get to a game which is clearly a sell out.

If they do I hope they enjoy the game from the car park.

:guns:

Have heard things along similar lines. Probably true as well!

I've heard about this too. Police apparently expecting quite a bit of trouble on Saturday. Leeds fans have always been intent on causing trouble, especially at seaside towns (Bournemouth they practically smashed the seafront up) Should create for a hostile but hopefully electric atmosphere in the ground :D

The Railway will be shut apparently.

Will the Spread be open as per?

i do suspect that the "dutchboy" on here who wanted to know the part of the ground with the most singing might have been a northern ghost of Don revie type -

i have been to Leeds and it is a terrible place and i suspect some of the Leeds fans wish it was still the 1970's and 80's and they can inflict their
trauma at being born the northern holes on decent football stadiums and
supporters -

generally a vile bunch and any spotted in any home areas should be shopped immediately -

i suppose it would be nice to think that I am stuck in my own time warp and that in fact they are all decent football supporters underneath, that things have progressed and we needn't fear any misbehaviour from the visitors -

uhmmmm - not so sure

You do, Dave, and I wouldn't normally be the one to accept them. But my source was quite adamant, despite my reservations, because LUFC are fearful of the consequences should their fans cause trouble ...

Where on earth does this figure come from?. has someone done a survey outside Elland Road or in the city centre?. Would expect there to be some ticketless fans to show up but this amount, i dont think so.

Cant see it myself.

Was surprised to see how their attendances have gone up over the season though, from under 20k at the beginning to 25-29k for the last 3 games.

The Spread Eagle will be shut all day for this game. They have also been instructed to only use plastic glasses on Friday PM as well as the OB are fearfull of trouble the night before :thump:
