Lee Sawyer on Bluesworld

I've just watched the interview with Lee Sawyer on Blues World. He was asked a few questions about possibly coming back in January on loan. At the end of the interview the question was raised about coming back on a permanent basis to which Lee replied that he'd be looking to do that.

For those that watched the video do you think he understood the question as we've all discussed on here how we've always considered signing Sawyer as beyond us.

Also am I the only one who is a little worried about how the returns of Sawyer and Kanu to their respective parent clubs could unsettle/weaken the side which has been on such a great run of form?

I don't think Sawyer is beyond us, and without him (or a suitable replacement for Gower) we are a lower mid-table team at best when you factor in our defence.

If he does come back that would be bloody brilliant in my opinion, as in the games that I've seen him, he was the best player on the pitch. It's good news that he apparently says it's something he's looking at, as I can't see him getting a look in at Chelsea. He and Christophe would be a step in the right direction certainly, although I think we'd need a Kanu replacement as well and our prospects of getting Kanu are somewhat less likely, I'd have thought.

why is Sawyer beyond us? we've already signed one chelsea player. I think Sawyer is a terrific potential but that won't get realised at Chelsea I don't think. He needs to move, the question is if other teams are also interested, however we already have him here and I think that's a big advantage over other teams.

I don't think there's any question that he'd be an immense signing, and if he wants to come he's a player worth pushing the boat out a little for IMO.

I'm going to do something that I haven't done for at least five minutes and bang on about FF some more. One of the key questions for a guy like Sawyer has to be "can this club help me along the road to achieving my own personal goals?". The new stadium has to make a world of difference in that respect - I don't think Sawyer would consider moving to a League One club that he didn't think had the potential to progress.

To be fair, he's hardly going to say:

"Nah, dont fancy it to be honest" is he?!

Really hope both he and Jeff stay, but depends who else is sniffing around I spose. 1 of those 2 would be a big coup IMO.

Of course he's not going to say on camera, " Na im coming back here". The thing is he answered the question with some enthusiasm, which means a lot in my book. Top signing if we can get him..

Next Feds!!

in all the games i have seen sawyer play in, he seems to be a terrific talent, seems to be everywhere and actually works to get the ball. he would be a terrific signing for us but i cant help but think that all we have done is put him in the "shop window" as it were. Jeff would be an immense signing though and i really believe that could happen

Hopefully, Uncle ron and Tilly have seen the difference that he and the other loanees make to the side. In my mind, that's got to be worth something.

Is he beyond our reach? Possibly.
Is he worth strectching ourselves for? Absolutely.

if feds, sawyer and christophe sign i will run naked at roots hall

Not too bothered about Federici, I'd happily stick with the cheaper options of Joyce & Masters backing up Mildenhall.

Sawyer & Christophe signing would be fabulous but I still can't see Sawyer signing.

To be fair here, if you were in an appraisal though and your boss said "are you looking to leave?" you'd be very likely to go "Of course not, I'm really happy here" even if you have the local job agency ringing you at that moment offering you something better elsewhere so I really think we should read nothing into these comments from little Lee.

On the other hand my dad's mate's brother's cab driver's uncle said that he heard Freddy Eastwood's uncle's mate's sister's niece's dance teacher saying that Freddy wants to come home to Essex and sees a move back to his roots at Grays as something he really wants, if they can't offer him anything he might consider a return to Roots Hall.

very true. i definately think that he is just keeping his options open, but it would be nice to think that we had the kind of money required to pick up a player of his quality. then . . if we miss out im sure we can rely on tilly to pick someone up that can do the business!!

Its true that it might have just been a PR answer. But players dont always answer in this fashion. Sometimes they'll come out with "I've enjoyed my time here but the decision will be down to the two clubs" or something similar.

Christophe admitting that him and Laurent are good friends and live together could help influence his decision on whether to stay at Roots Hall come January.

Back to the second point of my original post, is anyone else a little worried that 2 of our key players from the past few months are leaving after the Tranmere game and we cant bring anyone in to replace them until January. I know we have players such as Scannell, Grant and the returning McCormack but I still fear we may miss them.

I think most people are worried mate, not much we can do about it though.

Considering that he's been playing ahead of a fit Alan McCormack, I think it's safe to say that Management here know exactly how good he is. Ok, Macca hasn't been on much form but that's got to be partly because he can't get past Sawyer and onto the field.

I have just watched the interview and the first thing that suprised me was how deep his voice is, he looks so young too. Anyway in regards to the interview itself I think its a good thing after what he has said. But from what I read elsewhere he is being tracked by other clubs now unless we have something on the cards already lined up then I fear we have no chance of signing him due to his shining performences for us. They will not of gone un noticed by other clubs. Especially seeing as we have scouts from Portsmouth, Ipswich and Reading keeping an eye on the players we have loaned from them.

Dont see why we cant get Sawyer. He is a class act but lets face it he needs game and with a young family probably wants to be close to his home. We can offer both of these things which i think will be a massive pull.

Cant see him wanting to go back to 200 crowds in Chelsea reserves and being a bit part player having been a big player for us. Class act but is he going to start in the championship for a bigger club....? Not yet in my book.
