Surprised to see him start yesterday, he looked very good and was every much the player we know he is, having him on the pitch possibly encouraged the other midfielders to look to play the ball on the floor. As well as Hills who kept the ball on the deck.

This will be the turning point in Lee Sawyers carrer if and when he plays in the next 2 games Burton and Crawley.I think he will take the MOM AWARDS in both games of which the sky game on telly will bring him to the spot lite of his football ability and skills hes got.He must play in the middle of the park where he is best. MESSAGE FOR PAUL STOUROCK GIVE HIM A GO IN THE MIDDLE. He will Get us promotion.

The Lee Sawyer fan club.

Must be starting to night.

Sawyer has now played 2 games in a row within 48hrs the last ninety minutes with 9 men on the pitch
he is doing what he is told to do by PS and for the team, there is a lot more still to come from him i know
but he has waited patiently for his chance (not a known attribute in the past )
Plus i think has shown he is fit enough and can play and complete 90 mins especially his defensive work in
the last six minutes of extra time against Crawley( along with the other lads )
Hopefully he gets a few more chances now to show he is not a passenger in the squad as some have claimed on this thread
stays fit an injury free and that the 2 game unbeaten run is the start of another long run !!!!

Thought he was electric on Monday. Worked hard all the way up until the 96th minute. Really pleased for him, and believe he can be a real asset in our final games.

Well done Lee.

made some really good strong challenges on Monday, and looked very busy, well impressed. I still stand by my theory that he could have solved our left back issue a while back, but at least Hills looks solid (for 70 mins at least anyway!)

Did sod all on monday except for a few tricks that got him nowhere.

Emperor's New Clothes.
Shame you felt like that but then guess your looking for him to play the way he wants to than the way PS tells him to
I'm not suggesting for ONE minute Sawyer is a saviour only stating really that there is no doubt now
that he can play 90 mins and is proving it ,if he gets a few more 90 mins in a row maybe his confidence which could be dented a bit might start to show BUT he still has to do what PS tells him to do not what you or i want to see.
Lets be honest it was difficult to do sod all stuck out on the wing an no passes to you on the floor but PS
kept Sawyer on the pitch for a reason and not Martin which tells me PS could trust Sawyer to work hard for 96mins
which in the past has been doubted

Really? He was never going to get the ball much on the wing, and when he got it used it quite well IMO. Did much better than Timlin did.

...created one of our best chances, winning a tackle he wasn't favourite for, making Pablo Mills look silly by waltzing past him, and then spotting that both our strikers had advanced and were marked and so did the right thing which was pull it back for an on-running midfielder - however both Grant and Timlin were standing about 30yards back and weren't moving.

Both against Burton and Crawley he came in and out of the game, but he was excellent on the ball, always retaining possession - kept it simple and played to his strengths.

Hands up, I admit I was a bit hasty and I retract that last post.

To be fair, he kept him on, as I've said elsewhere, because he had to sacrifice a player and it makes far more sense to leave a three man midfield that is made up of people who can and will play through the middle - hence the one genuine wide player was the sacrifice. Sawyer had a good game on Monday and I think, given time, he and Clohessy could develop a similar understanding to what Clohessy has with Leonard. It was certainly good to see him complete a full first team game.
Thought he was electric on Monday

Slightly OTT though OBD, I think!

Think Lee Sawyer is a very good player he always looks before passing a ball and never just hoofs the ball. Saw him put his foot on the ball a few times on Monday and last Saturday and actually slow the play to wait for players to move into a favourable position to receive the ball. Feel this is what has been lacking lately.

Spot on that man!

He's our best midfielder by a mile and plays the game the right way, if we had another one of him in the middle of the park we'd be alright.

Id say Hall was our best midfielder by a mile ?
jam_Man not gonna argue with that i'm just happy he is back in the frame and i bet he is to .
i would still like to see him one day in the middle or at least inter change with Timlin during 90mins play
He played in the promotional run in 9 games for Wycombe .W so has a bit experience that i hope helps us get promoted however ,he still has to do it the PS way so playing to instructions so unless he is given a free rein(which i doubt very much)
he may be a little bit stifled so we may not be able to see his full ability at the moment

I would certainly like to see someone centrally who was comfortable one the ball (Sawyer is),, who can distribute the ball well (not sure Sawyer has an end product) and who contributes to the defense (Sawyers weak point).

Still think Sawyer doesnt fit into the side anywhere, Id rather Hall/Martin wide and Timlin is ahead of him. So choice is Sawyer/Grant/Ferdinand for the other position.

Think we will see more of the 5 man midfield formation at some point ......... so that could mean 3 out of the following (Sawyer, Grant, Ferdinand and Timlin) in the middle with Hall and Martin out wide ......... with the midfield tasked to have at least 1 upfront supporting the loan striker when we have possession ........ problem is, the direct style of play does not always give time for the midfield to get up and support when the ball is punted long  ....... leading to the ball just being cheaply given away ........ still I am sure Sturrock will sort something out ...........

If you would agree that no one in the middle is doing that at the minute, is it not worth trying him there to see if he does any better now we know he can play 90 mins thats why i was suggesting switching him with Timlin (Timlin ain't doing it at the minute is he?)during the game to see how and if it worked for 30 mins ....
After all others have had there chance and not produced the goods so why not try him there it would be to our benefit if it was
successful don't you think ?

Sawyer needs to demonstrate he can actually produce something, he always looks comfortable on the ball but not much else.

I wouldnt drop Timlin for him.

He would either have to play instead of Grant/Ferdinand, or part of a 5 man midfield.
