Lee Barnard - Glad we didn't get him!

He spent most of the match whingeing at the ref and getting wound up. Got very little service. They played long ball when they had two young, quick strikers up front.

Lee was out in Stewarts bar in Billericay on Friday night! loving the preparation, as he is a Billericay boy. I heard he was injured. good lad Lee, should be able to play at this level...

Stewarts i hate that place (my girlfriend and her mates literally live in there) lol.

Yeh hes a billericay boy and seems a sensible bloke from what ive seen and heard about him.

Wasnt at the game so comment on his performance but his supposed to have a lot of potential.

To be fair though AS. He was utter, utter cack that day & his only worthwhile contribution was kiccking Clarkey which spurred him on to a decent performance.

I'd not seen him before but heard he was highly rated BEFORE his injury, so he could've been one of those players who never recovered that previous sharpness. So I don't think you can say "ya boo sucks" to anyone after that performance. Ok Crewe were very poor, but good players often stand out in a carp team & simply he didn't.

Every one has an off day mate.....can not deny that he is doing the business for us now though

Not saying he isn't AS, just pointing out why people weren't impressed at the time & haven't any need for the huge slice of humble pie you think they should have. They based "opinion" on a game that they saw. Same as me. Ok just one game, but you only see other teams players twice a season so have to make snap judgements based on that. It's what footy fans do!

Hey how many said on here that Billy Van Painter was a real steal based on his one performance the season before for Port Vale. The OS Bill van Basten reference still makes me laugh to this day. His stats of 8 goals might look better this season but it's actually 1 league goal in a week short of 5 months!

Barnard is a better player than he looked that day, of that there's no doubt, & the good news is he scores the easy goals as well by standing in places that Fredy lost the ability to get into. Barnard doesn't want to pick the ball up on the halfway line & dribble past 8 players, some of them 3 times, beofre unleashing a 35 yard thunderbolt which was Fredy's sole aim most of his last 5 months with us. Lee looks like a player who's most comfortable in the 18 yard box & preferably the 6 yard box. At this level & staying fit I reckon his goal per game ratio may well end up better than Fred's.

The posts are not on this thread, however several of the ones who claimed he was total cr*p said on other threads that they had seen him loads of times so it wasn't just about being 'utter, utter cack' at the Crewe game...

I re-read that first post and the title three times and still couldn't believe what I was reading.....then I noticed the date.

Too ealy to be thinking about October last year, I can barely remember five minutes ago.

Anyway, glad to see people eating humble pie - not just because It's quite amusing but because if they weren't that means Lee would've been rubbish so far.

QUOTE FURTHER UP:
"
Jonny_StokesJonny in "right about a player, now that you come to mention it" shocker....

Good point fella

He was poo that game, but I'm glad his doing the business for us and proving a lot of people wrong. Long may it continue.

I said at the time, albeit not on here, that it might have been a "Simon Royce" performance. If he had any feelings for the club what better way of demonstrating them by not scoring against us. Neil Harris went up in my estimation when he missed an absolute sitter for Gillingham against us that was easier to score than miss.

I commented at the time that he had a poop game for crewe, unlike others who wrote him off completely, I think some humble pie is being eaten at the mo, I do have plenty of spurs supporting friends who are giving me the 'I told you so' treatment, he was thought of highly at the lane but like so many other young english footballers got overlooked
