Laurent and Thierry Henry

1 great goal a good player does not make.

Thanks Yoda

And the point was firmly proved by Freddy Eastwood. But there's still people on here that insist he was fantastic when he was nothing but a cut above the rest in an average league. Collymore had more class in his little finger and a proven record to show for it.

Have amended fbm's quote to take account of your Eastwood example.

Are Man United and Spurs "mediocre" then?

Yes.

Eastwood was definitely hiding when he scored at Birmingham, Stoke, Sheffield Wednesday etc. His back injury wasn't caused by carrying the team (and players like Kevin Maher, who weren't fit to lace his boots) on his back for the last three seasons either.

That's not the point. What has he done to set the world on fire when he left us ? And what did he do to help us through the relegation battle - B8gger all. Next you'll be trying to convince me Barrett is a better defender than Clarke.

I always hold it against a player when they save their best years for us.

Talking about performing on the world stage, I presume you've missed Eastwood's international career. He's the one former Southend player to have actually performed on the international stage in at least the last 20 years.

Considering that Freddy would usually have to score at least twice in a game (and would have to create those goals for himself considering the woeful lack of service he got) in order for us to even get a point, I thought it was a miracle that he put in as much effort as he did.

I'll always remember the home match against Coventry - Eastwood ran himself into the ground, scored two goals and still ended up on the losing side thanks to our defence's comedy defending.

Think youre forgetting Montserrats very own Tes Bramble.

Was delighted for the guy to score. Looked delighted with his goal and went mental, thought he was going to kiss everyone. Delighted for him.

What a fantastic header from Laurent, and looks like he knows where the back of the net is after his run of goals for the reserves plus his disallowed one on saturday.

Nice bit of trickery in front of the East in the second half, but he does look like his gonna go from the sublime to the ridculous at any minute, a lot Walker. Definately some potential there to work with and will learn a hell of a lot of the likes of Freedman and Furlong.

Finding it hard not to get carried away, but it was an impressive debut. Scored great header. One disallowed and must have put through 2 really good passes into goal scoring chances only for it to be ruled offside.
I think he may be a bit of an 'edge of seat' type player. When he gets the ball, he looks like he will deliver something quite useful. Could be one to watch with anticipation!

It was a very good debut from Laurent but I wont get too carried away as of yet by our signing from across the channel. Last French import striker also scored on debut but then proceeded to play like a park player. The icing on the cake being the notoriously ''high'' challenge made on that Brentford player away at Griffin Park.

I'm hoping Laurent doesn turn out like our beloved Sada N'Diaye.
