yeah what happened to rons bit of news he was suppose to let out of the bag some 2 months ago:blush:

He's certainly keeping us on the edge of our seats with this big news.
More likely tho it would just be another bit of spin or non event to see him through the next six months. All this news that that turns out to be nothing, just repeats it's self year after year, but slightly different. He has to keep giving the idea that all this will happen, to keep the Manager and players believing they should stay here, so they can play in a shiny new stadium with potentially bigger crowds.
I don't think there's many left that believe it now. Does anyone know which year the Fossett thing started?
I always remember many years ago that fabulous brochure dropping through my letter box, promising this lovely image of the new stadium and Fossetts development. Ron asking us to invest at £6 a share, Lol. Well some poor fans got well mugged off, as the stadium and development never happened, and the shares are now worthless.

The shares were worthless then, and the prospectus that was sent out at the time said as much. I bought shares so I could say I have shares in SUFC, and for no other reason.

That is my biggest worry about next season. If Brown, Payne, Bentley etc move on, i'm sure one of the reasons will be because we're no further down the line with this. You can only sell the club's potential for so long !

At the time all the talk was about the new stadium and Fossetts retail park, casino and whatever else. Ron Martin said this in the shares brochure. 'Over the past five years Southend United Football Club has made considerable progress. Throughout this period the business plan has centred around a new stadium which I am convinced will act as a springboard to take us to the next level.'
I'm sure that some bought them for the same reason as you, or to help the club at that time. I'm also sure that some bought them with the promised new stadium, the Fossetts development and the sale of Roots Hall in mind. That's all Ron Martin was talking about at the time, and most of us believed that it was about to start soon.

I doubt it very much since the prospectus made it extremely clear that the chances of getting your money back (forgetting any kind of return on your investment) was pretty much nil. If people did, then more fool them, but RM can't be blamed for that. (For clarity, there's plenty he can be blamed for, but this isn't one of them.)

They'll probably be a press release to appease the fans and make them buy season tickets, then in a years time we'll be in the same position as we are now. Don't worry, i'm not pessimistic by nature...only when it comes to this football club

Looking into my crystal ball.....plans to be submitted by (add fictional date here) very complex deal black blah blah blah....keep my lifestyle afloat cough cough string you all along for even longer

It is also worth noting that BL aren't involved in the stadium build, just the retail park. (Makes sense really; why would they want to get involved in a football stadium?)

That means we're still stuck with RM and his complete inability to build anything before the retail park can get going. However, I would hope that BL would put RM under immense pressure to get on with the stadium because I would expect Southend Council to stipulate that the stadium has to be built first as they have in the past.

I was under the belief BL were to build the sraduim, however I am grateful for the information that they will not.
i cannot ever see RM and the club being able to finance the build of it even with the sale of RH. the council will rightly see the ground as being the right main priority not the numerous flats, retail park and hotel.

this will never be built let's all be honest about it....

New planning application received and validated by the council last Friday.

My guess is that the delay was RM and BL making amendments to the plans based on feedback from the public consultation. Note: this is just a guess, and may be completely wrong.
