Jason Demetriou

Hmmm.

Excluding Solihull (where he went off injured after 11 minutes at 0-0 and we went on to win 5-0 without him) Demi started 16 games
We won 6, drew 7 lost 3. Ave 1.56 points per start.

Picking a player at random
Harry Taylor started 34 won 16, drew 6, lost 12. Ave 1.62 per start.

If Demi had the highest win percentage in games he appeared in it’s because Maher wanted to protect Jack Bridge and so looked to take him off for the final 2 minutes in games we’d already wrapped up and Demi happened to be our wingback on the bench.
Appearances include coming on so possibly distorts it. However, they're not my stats they're the clubs. Was just sharing some info.

Yeah, I’d be wary of including results of sub appearances. It’s like looking at statistics and seeing teams win more often when a defender is subbed on and concluding you need to bring on a defender when you’re 1-0 down.

Demi came on as sub 10 times. In 7 of them we were already winning. We won 6 of them.

5 of the 7 he came on with 4 or less minutes remaining basically as a timewasting measure.

Of the two occasions he came on with a lead and more than 4 minutes to play we won one and drew one.

Whilst the expanded substitutes bench reduces his value by diminishing the importance of versatility, we can still potentially take advantage of his vocals without having him on the pitch by naming him on the bench and just having him coach on the side as he ‘warms up’. Re-signing him in that player coach role seems a no-brainer.
