James Walker Today

Walker was having a mare and it got worse and worse. Personally i don't blame Walker I think Tilson again lacked the bollocks to take off a player who was obviously bad.

I have said a few times on here that I am unsure of Jimmy Walker, and that still remains the case. Last week at Crewe, he was awesome, a point I made on here. I don't believe that opinion was based on a rose tinted view just because we had won well, just like I don't believe for one second that the fact I thought he had an absolute stinker today is based on anything apart from the fact that he had an absolute stinker!!

He is young and because of that, is going to be susceptible to the odd bad game - that doesn't worry me in the slightest. The only conerns I really have is how completely uncomfortable he looks with the ball at his feet at times!! His off the ball runs are not particularly intelligent, and he doesn't have that blistering pace strikers like him can often have as an 'if all else fails' insurance policy.

He has played well since being with us at times, last Saturday for instance, he was excellent and looked a threat all afternoon long, and him and Barney were too much for Crewe to handle. As I said a lot of it can be put down to his age, and hopefully with more experience he will improve - he certainly has potential.

He is not to blame for our failure to win today, or certainly not alone. He should have scored today, and was also very unlucky/ The reason we did not win is down to, for the 10,726th time this season, our inability to defend any kind of set piece, and no one should be making a scapegoat out of anyone.

I think Walker looked a little jaded today in company with some of our other attacking players. Fully agree that Grant should have come on for Black and Revell (or Charlie Mac who did an extensive warm up) for Walker.

Only if we are defending a win. Grant is not a winger and no dis respect to him is not as an attacking threat as Revell. Thats why Revell came on as we were going for the win. I'm sure if we had been winning then Grant would have came on.

i like walker and i hope we sign him in the summer. he's scored a few goals even though i think he's being played out of posistion has a hold up player. i think we've yet to see the best of him. today was not a good game for him and should have scored 2 or even more goals. end of as far as im concerned, he had a bad game oh well i'm sure he'll do better next game.

i understand peopls frustrations with him today as he could have won it for us and if he had scored doubt this thread would have been on here at all but we're playing well and on a great run. we've got some really tough games ahead of us that can make or break our season so lets support the players rather than moan and groan at them.

This will be the same Tilson who hasn't hesitated in dropping and then sending out on loan our longest serving player?:stunned:

I wouldn't even have said Walker was having a "mare", he just looked a little tired and was being marked effectively.

tilson has stuck to the same policy don't sub until 10 mins from the end even when a game needs changing, i am sure if these subs had more time to settle into the team then we would have more chance to get that important goal with a fresh pair of legs, walker and black should have both come off earlier, not dropped as we need to keep a solid team at the momment, remember gower was having a stinker not too long ago and look at him now

Exactly..... I don't think Tilson has anything left to prove about being prepared to be tough with the players.

James was poor, he missed a sitter that would have won us the game when he missed controlled in front of goal.

Not going to get on his back, thought Alex Revell looked decent when he came on for Tommy Black.

People are being very harsh here. He didn't have the best of games but he did try very hard maybe even tried too hard at times. He looks like he needs a rest at the moment. He has looked a very good player in most of the other games I have seen him though.

I have to say , I wondered what the crowd reaction would have been like if Matt Harrold had done what Walker did

No doubt that JW has something to offer the side. But today wasn't his best, and he'll know that. He saw an awful lot of the ball, and played with his head down a little too much.

Every player has an off day and this was his. HOwever I'm looking forward to him bouncing back and scoring the winner at Carlisle!

You know that there would probably have been a lynching at the Hall if it had been Prince Harry in Walker's boots. :stunned:

Wayne Grey was better than Walker imo. He had pace to burn and scored the odd goal.... he wasn't deemed good enough for the Championship!

Get down the doctor's quick, you need to be saved before it's too late.

Grayomnia is a condition with fatal consequences:O

Walker had a bad game yesterday. He knows it, I know it, we all know it.

But, he also had an excellent game v Walsall when I last saw him.

It seems he is a flair player and, as such, will have some games where he can do nothing wrong and others when he is terrible (bit like Gower).

Totally opposite to Barney who is consistent and a decent player, while not neccesarily having the talent of Walker.

We need both sorts of players in the team and Walker can be very important in our run in.
