Suspect Worrall and Hurst may go..but a CB to come in so yes it will be a biggish squad primarily because every player would be a solid 1st teamer- strength in depth very good at this level.

That's what bothers me. Everyone seems to have forgotten we're broke. Shrimperzone is full of loyal supporters - what I don't understand is why no one questions the future as long as things are OK right now. A squad of this size can only be making our financial position worse.

I think the fact we never get answers is why people aren't asking questions, it will be "commercially sensitive" for Ron to tell us apparentley and would affect the new stadium development, so we have to just wait and see and hope for the best

When we were relegated from the Championship we were saddled with umpteen expensive contracts and considerably reduced income. It caused a lot of turmoil which understandably took time to recover from. We none of us know what the financial situation is now but for season after season Ron has supported the last couple of managers in terms of the squad. Long may that last as long as it does not return to bite us. It so far has not.

I know we have had a lot of Irish players lately so I think I will check whether the club is now registered in Dublin under the auspices of Ronnie O'Martin. The tax we would save would easily explain the extra money for the squad :smile:

I too am concerned. Seems like a massive gamble to me which could have repercussions if we don't get promoted. But I'm approaching this with a half glass full mentality. The money must be coming from somewhere. I'd much rather be in a position where we are in the dark about how we can afford a big squad than languishing in the lower reaches with no money to get decent cover.

I think he's more of a short term type of guy.

I agree it seems odd that having carried 5 centre-backs whilst we were playing 2 CBs, we now off-load one and go down to three CBs whilst playing 3 of them (although it isn't a formation which suits Prosser).

I would expect us to have reverted back to 4 at the back in 6 weeks or so's time anyway.

That was about 5 weeks ago and it didn't even take that long!

Still there's enough time for us to change formation and style twice more before the end of the season. Who knows, we may even be back to 5 at the back for Saturday.

That's being pessimistic - I'm sure we can change formation at least twice between Crewe and Chesterfield ......:'(
