Echo News 'It’s not easy to get Southend United tickets'

Average attendance of over 7,000, I think that shows that most people don’t have an issue navigating a very simple online booking system.

You click on a seat and it goes into your basket, how is that difficult? If you’ve got time to send this absolute **** into the Echo, you’ve got time to work out how to do that.

There could be another 3,000 people that can't work it out though 🤪

Never had a problem myself, think the website is pretty good actually.

Although once I did have a strange one, that tickets to a game I wasn't going to appeared on my account (was prompted to look after an email) I was trying to work out what happened and eventually they got 'cancelled' next to them... so someone nearly assigned me some free tickets!

This guy obviously fired off a rant when he was having a bad day and found the ticket office line a frustration.

I've lived outside of the South Essex area for 15 years, working full time in a 9-5 for that entire time, and I have never even had the slightest of issues getting tickets for a home game.

Mr Bull said, ''With an online booking system which is next to impossible to navigate, a premium phone line which charges huge amounts (especially via mobile) and a ticket office that is only open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm''.
The only bit of that, that is true, is the ticket office opening times, although he could have added 10 to kick-off on home match days.
Absolute nonsense. And in the good ol days, the reporter would have bothered to check the ticket system out, online and by phone, before posting this Bull. The reporter would have even gone down to the ticket office, and asked for their response and comment.

Unfortunately the Echo steer clear of investigative journalism wherever possible. Click bait journalism is King these days.

I used the online ticketing system when I got back to UK last Xmas, it had just been announced the contract exchange had happened on the takeover, and I was on an X30 bus heading back to Southend from Stansted, thought I should hurry up and get a ticket booked given the good news.

Given that I was navigating on my phone screen, was pretty easy to get my ticket purchase sorted in the East for Boxing Day (2-0 defeat to Barnet ).

Don't recall it being a paper ticket, just a QR code on my phone, so no need to print anything go to the ticket office on matchday.

TLDR version - this guy must be a luddite.

This story has all the hallmarks of user error.

that's why I put my original comment on about the Fans engagement forum.

I don't see an issue using the ticketing site, exactly the same as the one in use at Twickenham, for example, which I only use once a year for the Army Navy games. Quite straight forward. and if a few thousand Pongos can get their heads around that, then this guy shouldn't have any problem with ours.
