If you could un-invent one county in the UK.

Midlands - Home to The Belfry, one of the worlds top golfing resorts.

Also spiritual home of The Ryder Cup, who can forget that Sunday afternoon in September 2002 when Paul McGinley sank that winning putt.

Yep, you've convinced me Stats. Lets send the midlands to Room 101.

Interestingly as we walked to the KC Stadium on Saturday over a bridge that linked from the hospital car park a rather unattractive Yorkshire couple were selling Hull badges/scarfs - as we approached them saying that the stadium looked good we heard them say 'these Southern t?ats have never seen a decent stadium before' to which my cousin replied 'and we still haven't'! These were the first Yorkshire inhabitants we had come across - what a lovely welcome to Hull!

Isle of Wight *shudders* I had 2 school holidays there in primary school, my worst memory was spending a whole day in the Liliput Dolls museum listening to a lady babble on about how she got each doll in the museum (1 room) God and then to go through the same thing the next year was just horrible.

When I was a kid in the 70's I loved it....went a couple of years ago and it's a dismal place full of ****ed up hoodies smoking dope and boarded-up hotels. Truly the land that time forgot.

:thump:

Hmmm. I can see why in some places in Kent you can moan, Chatham, Maidstone and such places. But where I live it's fantastic - pretty much crime free, fresh air, good beer, superb pubs, and the Weald has some fantastic views/scenery.

Yeah, I know.................

A bit like the way the "estuary corridor" (and Harlow) is everyone idea of Essex I suppose.

I know its a bit specific but Port Talbot has to be the worst place in Britain.

That bit where you drive down the M4 and there is reasonable countryside to the North and then look left and its an absolute Hell Hole

Can anyone think of any redeeming feature for the Midlands?

When you live there, you don't have quite such a long agonising drive home from Grimsby.

Also, the glut of guns going to Nottingham keeps them out of London (in spite of the impression the newspapers liek to give).

Hmm, anything else....Nottingham had Robin Hood, Loughborough ensures UK university sport at least stays respectable, Leicester tends to lead to completely unconventional nights out and Coventry reminds you of how good you've got it.

Don't know so much about West Midlands but Brummies need to be kept for their comic value. We're not laughing with you Lenny and Jasper.

I would probably get rid of Buckinghamshire or Herfordshire. Both pretty pointless. Wiltshire would be a gonner if it wasn't for stonehenge. I've noticed a distcint anti-North vibe so far though!

I like the north personally. I like going to Newcastle and being told by a fat bird..

''Shut up of I'll smash your face in.''

No, seriously I do, it was the comic moment of the year so far for me, considering the only action she was going to get with with a 6 ft inflatable doll, and I had the Travelodge to look forward to.

Generally speaking though Northern people are far friendlier than Southerners. I'd get rid of the whle of South- West England if I could, after I've sorted out Jockland.

I'd agree entirely with you, other than its not so much a county as a region. I'm sure the reason DtS didn't pose the question which region would you like to uninvent because it would be such an obvious no-brainer.

Err... I live there... JK Rowling and JRR Tolkien have both lived in the midlands at some stage... Do you really want Wales stuck onto the west side of London?

As for me - West Ham. Pretty self-explanatory if you ask me.
