I ain't one to hide...

Fair play on your comments. I won't take the mick, as I am spent after giving my Borient supporting Uncle & cousin some serious grief! It has to be done after our recent poor run against your boys! I am SO happy!

I thought the penalty was harsh, but felt that idot Kettle was making up for the one he bottled in the first half.

The point of my reply, is finances! Your club's accounts are one of the few solvent I have seen! I know your crowds are generally pants, but you make profits every year & you still have loads of money coming in from the flats in the corners. Have you seen Mr Hearn's Brentwood home!!! Unless Hearn is holding onto it in the hope you move to Harlow or the Olympic Stadium & spend it there. He isn't doing you any favours!

RM take note!

Eh? I've been told Barry H£arn lives in East Hanningfield!

We don't make profits at all. Taking player sales out of the equation we have run at an operating loss of around £550,000 a year for the past decade. These losses have been covered by Hearn's Matchroom empire, and recouped via various shady deals involving the flats, the office space in the West Stand, and the recent loss of the ground as a whole. The club sees none of the benefits of the supposed revenue streams you mention, as they have gone into Matchroom's back pocket in recompense.

We currently sit with around £2,000,000 in the bank due to the ground sale, none of which is being used to finance anything other than covering the operating losses for the next five years. Hearn has publically stated that he is no longer going to invest his own money in the club, and, once that pot runs out, we are going to be saddled with an annual £180,000 bill to play in the stadium we no longer own (rising along with the RPI after five years), and absolutely nothing in the coffers to pay for it.

Quite frankly, unless we either a) find a buyer or b) move into one of the Olympic venues, we're going to the wall before 2015. A sobering prospect for those Ron Martin detractors amongst you.

We beat the scum 3-0!

Bless.

Blimey, they are quite damning figures, and seem to be very much the same as the financial figures we are seeing at Southend. I didn't realise that the position was so potentially grim, although I was aware of your ground sale.

While I have no particular affection for Orient, Colchester etc I don't want to see any club go down the gurgler, apart of course from Franchise FC.

I know it's very early to say, but what are the chances of securing one of the Olympic venues?

More likely taking over at Harlow Town!

The Olympic Stadium itself is probably out. As Uncle Barry so magnanimously pointed out, he 'doesn't dislike us enough to make us watch football from behind a running track'. (Clearly he dislikes us enough to make us watch the crap we've been served up for the past three years, though.)

Still, knowing Hearn that could just be rhetoric, though I personally wouldn't want to see our 3,000 fans rattling around in a 25,000 stadium like the abortion up at Darlington. Perhaps the more modest hockey stadium is a more viable prospect.

Well, that's been one of his hair-brained schemes in recent months.

I particularly enjoyed his comments that crowds will go up, especially in such an entrenched Tottenham area, plus the fact that half of the current regulars (myself included) would point blank refuse to go there.

We did a quick location-based straw poll on our MB for the Orientear; from memory there were 11 fans that lived within 10 miles of Harlow, and 138 who lived within 10 miles of Leyton. One respondant who actually lives in Harlow steadfastly stated that he'd refuse to go if Orient moved there, as part of his whole experience is the joy of travelling into East London for the occasion [insert obvious jokes here].

Strange man!!

I watched Mr Hearn mouthing well done in an over exaggerated manner to each of our directors last night, and he even said that with his usual smarmy smirk on his face. He really is a dislikeable, smug, arse.

Jonny, do you actually like Barry as your chairman?
I know one of his secretaries and she says he's great to work for, just wondered how you see him at the Oooze?

Could he charm the socks off the shareholders at an AGM in the way Martin does?

You see, I just don't hold with this argument and this is what I think sets us apart from the O's and also teams like Col U.

At present, Orient's ground has been redeveloped and holds less than 10K (correct me if I'm wrong Jonny). Col U have a new stadium that holds 10K max.

This is the most that will ever be in that ground. If either team do well and get into the CCC (quite probable) they will only ever be able to compete at a limited revenue. They cannot generate the income from their largest source which is gate receipts.

In the eighties Southend has 1-2000 rattling round in a stadium that held 30K plus. Ok, it doesn't look good but there were occasions when we had a big game that we had a big crowd and the receipts to match.

For instance, if we took 15000 to the Milstad for the Wrexham final, how many would we get for another home game against Man Utd in the FA Cup?

Further, both Orient and Southend have potentially large catchments (albeit ours in only in 2 directions, North and West as fish don't play football) but a successful SUFC team could average 15K in a new stadium.

We have ambition. Orient and Colchester have pretty much accepted they are L1 max. It would be possible for us to become as big as Reading, Wigan, that sort of club.

And as for Jonny coming on here, we all know that the Blues are his second favourite team so it's no great hardship really.

He is very personable and charming. And a grade A ****.

Under Hearn we have no chance of progress; the investment isn't, and will never be there. The man has got himself into prime position to achieve his goal of making a large profit out of the club, and he needs to evict us from Brisbane Road to do so. The hockey stadium will hold 15,000; quite enough to allow us to progress if such a miracle should happen.

Incidentally, I think that he initially got involved with the club because he thought he could make money out of the football itself; getting us promoted to the Championship etc. Obviously he is now resorting to more nefarious means.

Have you seen Mr Hearn's Brentwood home!!!

Yes as I live in the same road, albeit in a normal house and not anything like his huge mansion! Although I believe he now uses this as his daily office now and has another place outside Brentwood. How nice it must be to use a £3-4m pad as his "second home/office!"

Takes a lot of guts for an O's fan to come on here and be upfront the way Mr S consistently is. If there was an 'Ambassador for attempts to bridge the petty emnities of footy tribalism,' JS would get my vote! 'The Emperor' salutes you, sir!

And in sharp contrast to that Brighton fan who has so much to say for himself on here then goes AWOL whenever they get beaten.
