...and you richly deserved the win.
That was just as gutless and pathetic from Orient as last year, the difference being that Southend aren't any cop either this season, which makes it all the more worrying from my point of view.
A terrible first half from both sides with little of note except a couple of poor challenges and one decent effort from Laurent - at that point it was a game that didn't deserve a goal.
But come the second half Southend came out with purpose and gained early impetus which they never reliquished. It quickly became obvious that only one side wanted to win it, an Orient gave you all the space you needed to play in. Taking Chambers off was, in my view, a kamikaze move as he'd been the only player earning his wages out there and everything proceeded to go s***shaped.
To be quite honest I'd left the ground by the time the third went in, though it appears to be the third time in three games we've managed to concede from our own offensive set piece. No complaints about the O's fans bailing tonight; again half our home support turns out at an away game, yet again we sing our hearts out for the first half to no avail from the side; yet again the pitiful excuse for professional footballers who disgrace the badge I wear on my arm shame us in a local derby. Awful.
I've got no qualms about the result; you wanted it more, you played with tempo and purpose in the second half and you fully deserved it. Well done to the Blue Voice as well, who put the rest of the ground to shame.
Toilet.
