How will you celebrate on Wednesday?

1. I did not express my outrage the first two times he used the death of a policeman to insult me but then it happened a third time so bottling it up was not surving its purpose
2. I'm not Pubey but if you want to have a go at him for something he said last year then that is between the two of you
3. Why start making assumptions about my view of the police? Surely I give you enough material to attack me for the things I say and do without fantasising about opinions you think I 'might' have.

I did say some of you. Which was more aimed at your friends who have expressed their views about the police on different occasions. That said none of you would defend that Marine who has just been found not guilty.

Please explain exactly what makes me a "traitor" in your opinion.Otherwise please desist from using the term with reference to me.

FYI,I used to wear a uniform, both as a bus conductor (Eastern National Omnibus) and as a Security Guard (Avant-Garde Security).FWIW,I don't regard Police Officers as "fascist pigs" either. That's just lazy right-wing sterotyping.

You don't mind if McGuiness was blowing up or shooting policeman in NI though, In fact you tried to discredit them.......That's what makes you a Traitor

I participate fully in the political and social threads and if for the second post running all you can find to criticise me for are things you think I might think – then I am flattered.

This thread is now majorly off topic from the original post. Debate is welcome on SZ, personal abuse of posters is not. Please get back on topic, or if you wish to carry on the slanging matches then do so via PMs not this thread. Thank you all.

the criticism is not even based on something that anyone has done but based on what someone else thinks they would / wouldn't do - that is some crazy new level of attack right there!

Defend him for what? He's been found not guilty of murder and guilty of manslaughter. Obviously there were mitigating factors and reasons for diminished responsibility which is why he isn't guilty of murder, but still what he said and did at the time are heinous.

Nice to see the country "all pulling together" after Brexit.

Speak for yourself. The country is divided because a lot of Remainers still can't accept the result and are still upset their cushy little status quo has been disrupted. If Remoaners stopped protesting and insulting people who voted leave and instead said 'right, it's not the result we wanted but let's make the best of it', then we'd all get along much better.

People talk about bigotry and hatred since the referendum result - yes, but most of it's come from the Remain side.

Am I the only one that finds that ironic?

most people accept the result but the signs from May so far is that she will be making the worst of it not the best of it.

Her job is to get the best deal for Britain. Some of you Remainers want the best deal for the EU. If you really accepted the vote, you certainly wouldn't be desperate to weaken the governments position.

I have no interest in weakening our position. Not making threats about withholding security information, and making real reassurances on residency will make us all safer and mean that companies can recruit staff knowing they are actually allowed to stay. Those two obvious things will create a much more amiable atmosphere for reaching agreement.

And getting Liam Fox to withdraw his comments on employment law will help the general public trust the government to work for the best deal for everyone rather than think we have to scrutinise their every move suspiciously.

On the plus side, the bigger mess the Tories make of Brexit, the more chance of them losing the next GE.
