So, this is a pretty good indication that, love it or hate it, attracting families / youngsters to games is vital for future support.

I think there needs to be room for the 'old guard' type of support and a more sober area for families.

Which is why the call for the return of the North Bank has a huge amount of relevance - give that to those who want that sort of support, job done.

I have a feeling going back to the North Bank will be like somebody returning to Southend High Street having not been there since the late 70's. -- The memory of the place being so much better than its current state of being.

The North Bank was great as a terrace, but it now has the leg room that Barbara Windsor would find cramped. The view soon after halfway down would be rubbish from a seated position too.

No worries, it's just that a lot of my family were at the game, and date is ingrained on my memory along with being told how brilliant Trautmann was on the day.
Have a copy of newspaper picture showing a goalmouth scramble in the mud!! at this game. I remember being at the back of the North and being helped to the front as I was only 8 at the time!
