Slightly off topic but continuing the Gay Theme and the above post re David Bowie

Bowie indeed had a number of Alter ego's but these where created characters in his attempts to be ever changing and different and not to use as screens to hide his sexuality behind . He openly admitted to being bisexual but not gay....he had a very healthy appetite for the ladies as well as the men.

Now he is settled down with children and a stunning wife and I am sure happy that he as David Bowie not Aladdin sane (who was simply a progression of Ziggy in America, and more an album title than a real character IMO) is happy in the knowledge that he explored his own sexuality without the need to feel that he had to hide it, even back in the 70's.

I do not consider myself gay or bisexual, i can look at a man and find him attractive but I am not sexually attracted to men in any way…..if that makes sense?

I think the real honest answer is, No one really knows if they are gay or not, but just assume they are either Arthur or Marther

Ah see now thats where we must disagree , the "characters" (The ego , id and super id for instance are also characters you create ) are never screens , and remember his real name is David Jones ;) . To know yourself you have to brake it down into bit size manageable chunks. This can help you understand parts of yourslef you were totally unaware of and might be supressing . In Jungian tems say , men have an anima (femalside) and woman have the animus (male side) now you can either run from it and hide or play nice with it and have fun (maybe thats where God's and demons come from but thats another discussion )
Mind you Arthur or Martha is gender identity not sexual identity ;), their not the same (i.e all Gay men dont want to be woman and all gay woman dont always want to be men ;) )

Oh i know but it was just and example of how we change "masks" (psyche is Greek meaning soul (the same as the latin ego)

Yes , however it comes down to how aware you are of them (i.e created in say a stage persona) or created by extreme events (trauma as say in the case of multiple personality syndrome). Either way you have to communicate with them .

As you say, a stage persona is a creation that you have a degree of control over but if you are battling an Alter Ego such as was the characters Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde....this is more a battle of good and evil and something that i dare say none of us could explain with any degree of accuracy unless we where in that situation. But then if it is an alter Ego that you have no control over or are not aware of, how can you expalin it? You get in to a bit of a catch 24 situation.
